Bubbles in beer line, whats the cause?

I've played with my setup extensively and reckon I've now found the balance. Length of line, carbonation in the beer, height from keg to tap, temperature differential between keg and tap and the phase of the moon all play a part. But in short, I found that when I carb my kegs I either do 30psi...

    Oktoberfest Style Lager Formulation

I haven't done that many lagers but really the only difference appears to be ferment temp for different yeast strains. Diacetyl rest is largely dependent on grain type and yeast strain. When dropping to lager temps I dropped 2-3deg a day down to 2 deg. Left it there about 48 hours before...

    Oktoberfest Style Lager Formulation

Kaisers point about yeast cell count is well worth considering also. I built up a large amount of cells in a starter for mine.

    Oktoberfest Style Lager Formulation

Pitch at or below ferment temp, there's a fair bit of supporting evidence to show pitching below and letting temp rise is beneficial. Mine I pitched yeast straight from fridge into wort at 10 deg. Which was my primary temp. As gravity approached fg at about 7 days I raised to 18 over about 12...

    Oktoberfest Style Lager Formulation

I've had this one lagering for about 3 weeks now. I plan to keep lagering until mid October, but early tastings are very promising. Recipe: Octoberfestivus Brewer: BRB Asst Brewer: Style: Oktoberfest/Märzen TYPE: All Grain Taste: (30.0) Recipe Specifications -------------------------- Boil...

Panhead sell out to lion Nathan.

Or you could go the Young Henrys option and start a craft beer brand from the ground up but with capital backing. This of course opens the can of worms that is the "what is craft beer" debate. But I put it to you that these guys have walked the fine line between craft and volume/backing...

    Any takers?

Someone on an investment discussion group I'm a member of asked about this one. I already warned them off based on the macro factors of the market alone, but now that I see more detail, it's an even worse deal.

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

Some OG Budweiser, complainant in the longest running breach of copyright case in the world. So clear, like looking through coloured glass. Tasty too. Nice one Aldi.

Do We Have Double Standards With Craft Beer Brands vs Other Industries

Yes but are they SHORT shorts? I wear shorts, but they come to the lower thigh/top of the knee. Frankly this is one trend that should have staid in the 70s and early 80s, I just don't need to see that much man leg on display. Even footy shorts are longer than the ones I'm talking about.

Panhead sell out to lion Nathan.

To an extent, Mountain Goat pulled their IPA and replaced it with a Pale for reasons related to accountants I'm led to believe. White Rabbit really only had two beers afaik, so unless they messed with the recipe, not much change to be had there.

Do We Have Double Standards With Craft Beer Brands vs Other Industries

The same reason they are wearing short shorts again. They are poor misguided souls who need direction from a more mature demographic. Failing that, just relentless teasing and niggle, they'll grow out of it.

Whats a hop you could live with forever?

Tough, Amarillo or EKG, all APAs or IPAs vs British bitters. My house ales use Amarillo extensively (Dr Smurto's Golden anyone?) but I also love the British bitters and EKG is my go to hop for those.

    Fathers day

Mine was pretty quiet, replanted the vege patch in time for spring. I told the wife and son not to get me anything because I spent cold hard cash on this mini-keg bulk buy you guys might have heard about.

I want a Brewie! Any Tax Deduction Experts On Here?

This thing looks like the business. I like that the process is effectively exactly what I do now, but automated. Many of the other recently released automatic breweries are either too small to be worthwhile (brewing 5L at a time), too expensive, or a black box where you put in their recipe...

How soon should I see a Krausen?

Slighty OT, but on topic a bit too. Last weekend I brewed Dr Smurto's Golden which is one of two beers that have become my house ales because everyone loves them. The other beer is a Pale Ale which I knew I would be kegging on the same day I was brewing the Golden. I got lazy during the week...

    Hallertau Mittelfrueh & W34/70 - Give me a recipe..

I'm on a run of German lagers at the moment, started on an Octoberfest which has been lagering for 3 weeks now, Munich Dunkel has just been dropped to lager temps and will finish the run off with a traditional Bock. All three recipes are all Hellertauer Mittelfrueh and WY2206 Bavarian Lager but...

Do We Have Double Standards With Craft Beer Brands vs Other Industries

As per the general drift of other comments, I don't believe it's a fair comparison. I drink a particular beer because I like it (or think I will like it), not because of who brewed it. That said, brewers build up a track record with their products that leads me to have preconceived ideas...
