    Advice On Beersmith

A good point kong. Although I only have about 300ml left in the bottom before it starts to drag crud through again at the end of draining but there is actually 2 litres under my false bottom. So when underletting I will effectively have hotter water sitting there not helping raise the mashin...

    What are you brewing?

Others may dissagree but I feel that this approach is a little misguided. I know this style has a great amount of rustic belgian complexity but I feel the yeast is where it comes from, not throwing the kitchen sink at it. Attenuation is also paramount for the real effect too so the bigger...

    2006 Hop Plantations

Yeah anytime seems to be good. I did some beginning, middle and end of season last year. The beginning of season one turned out much bigger than the plant it came from and ended up an inch thick at it's base. Brent

    2006 Hop Plantations

Twas me who stuck a leaf in water to see what it did. Yes it grew roots and survived in teh ground for about 3 months. It never really grew though. A cutting from a tip is easy though. A couple f weeks in a cup of water and then into the ground once the roots pop and and your away. I have...

    Back In The Saddle

Ahhh yes... control line planes will do that.... 'tis what the other half of my shed revolves around.. A dying breed too. It apears brewing had the opposite effect with me of taking all my time away from the planes ( not to mention the kids) I know it's off topic but do you concentrate on any...

    2006 Hop Plantations

Glad to hear it's still kicking along Jye. I was a bit worried as the weekend after I sent it to you I was away for a few days and the heat destoryed a few of my other due to lack of water. Keep the water upto it as suggested and maybe a little seasol if you have it. (..and cross your...

    Dry Yeast For A Kolsch?

whirlfloc is a kettle fining ... nothing to do with yeast. Something like isinglass would be more suitable or just cc it properly for respectible results. Brent

    2006 Hop Plantations

Stick the bit that broke off inn a cup of water. It will sprout roots and you'll have 2 plants. Same happened with mine ( one of the kids dropped their wheelbarrow on it) and the plant from the cutting produced 90% of the crop. Brent

Stainless Steel Braid Rubber Inner Removal

OR you can just push it off from the same end you are holding the inner (long nose pliers work well for gripping the inner). As soon as the braid bunches up it's a bigger diameter and doesn't grip the rubber hose. But persist with crazy lubricants if you feel it neccesary. Borret

    Hag Brew Day At Potters

Thanks Mark, I pitched mine last night with a large starter of Wy Danish II (thanks Les for the culture) and brought the volume upto about 22ish litres, so including the starter wort I should come out with a slightly bigger beer. Fingers crossed for success. Has anyone else thrown yeast at...

Nsw Xmas In July 2006 Case Consumption

Thanks Seth.... send it thru. I know I wasn't part of this case but I also had the pleasure of dinking one of Weiz'z Berliners on friday night and must say I was suitably impressed. As others have said it was very, clean crisp and slightly tart.... and I could've drunk a whole lot more :) A...

    Hag Brew Day At Potters

I must second your notion of thanks for David, Scott and the ever smiling, continual beer serving Josh. A top job on top of all the other general beery discussion of the Day. I must also thank Scott for the 'Drivers Pack' ;) Twas much appreciated. :) Now I know you said the Recipe is...
