Braumeister vs 3V: pros and cons

I've got a BM 20L and love it. It is the best piece of brewing equipment that I have. Pros: - compact size, easy to store out in an out of the way place - repeat-ability of brewing process as you can dial in temperatures and times for the mash and boil - ease of brewing meaning that I can get...

    FS: Crown Urn 40L, Parramatta

For anyone looking to get in to AG, a 40L crown is a brilliant option. Especially if you have limited space or if you want to reduce cleaning time through the use of one vessel only.

Speidels Braumeister. Impressive Yes. Expensive Yes.

I love my BM 20, especially the simplicity, but while i use 9.5 L kegs, I'm not sure if I'd want to do a 10L batch. I suppose that it could shorten the brew day slightly, but it reckon I'd rather do a 20 L batch and fill two of the little kegs.

    2014 Tasmanian International Beer Festival

2013 was my first Tassie Beer Fest. Wasn't quite sure what to expect. Was it going to be full of bogans out just to get pissed? The festival ended up being one of the best weekends away on record. Civilised. Beautiful weather (although that's not to be guaranteed). Great beer. But mostly...

Plane shot down with 27 Aussies on board.

Sorry to hear it mate. Liliane sounds like she was a honourable woman. Our thoughts are, and should be, with her family and the families of others that have passed as a result of this tragedy.

    Water levels

Sorry, I missed the top up part of your question. Yes, you can dilute your beer before you pitch your yeast (and after too, but there's things to consider such as hop utilisation). Give it a go, see how your beer turns out, and you can adjust your approach as you go forward.

    Water levels

This isn't the answer that you're looking for, however, it really depends on your system and process. What volume are you aiming for In the FV? How will you sparge? How long will you boil for? Using my system, to get 20L in the fermenter I have a 26L strike volume, sparge with 4 L. Check that...

FS Melb: 9.5L AEB Keg ($115)

BnT, that's ok, I've only filled it the one time since I got it, and I've filled others ahead of it since. It'd be good to see someone else get use out of it, rather than have it sitting here on my shelf unused, as beautiful as it is. Shoot me a text when your free and we'll arrange a time to...

FS Melb: 9.5L AEB Keg ($115)

That's ok. I recall the outrage when the last bloke on AHB reneged on a sale! [Remember the keg king series 3 sale debacle about 2 years ago ;)] I also have a feeling that AEB may be a little wide to fit two kegs side by side in my little under the bench keg fridge.

FS Melb: 9.5L AEB Keg ($115)

Danwood, I didn't think of that, but it would seem such a shame to interfere with a brand new keg. Luckily I was able to pick up a number of the 9.5 L keg king kegs which fit my little kegorator like a glove. Glad to see the AEB go to a good home ;)

    Carbonating in Keg

Try the gas down the spear technique. It works for me every time: http://www.kegking.com.au/Force%20Carbonating%20Your%20Beer.html When you turn the reg up to 300kpa, you should hear the beer in your keg crackle as the c02 is absorbed. If no crackling sound, there's something preventing the...

FS Melb: 9.5L AEB Keg ($115)

9.5L AEB keg for sale. Used only once. As new. I bought the keg as part of the bulk buy that DaveHQ recently organised. Sadly the keg is millimetres too tall to fit in my keg fidge. I paid $115 for the keg and would like to sell it for the same. Pick up in Albert Park Vic.

    restoring a keg

I'm sorry to hear it Yob, and can understand the sentimental value. Whether it holds beer again or not, it sounds like you've got plans to keep the memory alive.

    CO2

It's ok to turn it off. Many do, although I don't. Just remember to turn the gas back on before you pour as it may affect your carbonation. For example, if you pour four pints with the gas off and the leave it a week, you'll be left with under carbed beer in your keg. The reason that you'd...

    restoring a keg

Yob, you've got me curious. Can you post a pic of the keg? Never seen one that's been on fire.
