    BIAB. The next step

Hi, Awesome looking setup!! I would say you are better off insulating the mash as mentioned above than applying heat. I stir the mash as I add the grains which ensures there is a pretty even temp throughout. Insulate it with a camping mat and kids sleeping bag (kmart spec) and you will only...

    Inconsistant Fermentation

Where are you measuring the temp? If you had a slightly warmer temp in one of the fermentors, it would ferment out quicker.

    Couple Of Ferment Fridge Questions

On the hinge side, you should be able to feed the cords out between the door and the fridge body. You get a lot more pressure on that area of the seal. Works for me.

Trying Different Method For Cooling Fermenter

Before I had my fermenting fridge, I had a large storage tub filled with water. Freeze a few 1.25 bottles of water and add them to the water to get it a few degrees below your ferm temp. Put the fermenter in with the water and keep replacing the frozen water bottles every morning. I found I...

    Brew Fridge Upgrade Recommendations

Gumtree is awesome for fridge/freezers. I picked up a 10 year old 380L Kelvinator fridge (without freezer) last week for $120...perfect working order. Couldn't justify the cost of buying a new fridge for fermenting. In terms of brands, my family have always had Kelvinators and they never miss a...

    Recomendations On First Keg Setup

Hi Pat, Looks like the makings of a great setup there!! Pretty similar to my system I think...there's some pics attached. Perlicks... I have 2 of the 525SS (not flow control) which are a great good quality tap (and low maintenance). Have heard good things about the flow control ones too. JG...

    Not Another Chill/no Chiill Post...

I agree with QldKev... I started no-chill last year and spent ages reading how to adjust the recipe etc....it was doing my head in  !! Without any hop schedule adjustments, I found my beers a bit too bitter (for my tastebuds anyway), so I modified my process accordingly. Brew, drink...

    Coldstream Summer Pale Ale

Headed to Coldstream Brewery last weekend for a couple of quiet one's in the sun. They have just released a Summer Pale Ale (not to be confused with their Summer Ale). The description in the Brewery says it has a combination of NZ and American Hops. Although the bloke serving didn't know, I'm...

    Ntc Sensor Probe

I drilled a second hole through the lid pretty much as you have in your original post. The hole is a little bit larger, but it still seals fine with an airlock grommet around the probe. You might struggle getting an airtight seal around the threaded portion. But, airtight isnt really necessary...

    Ntc Sensor Probe

Even use it for cube fermentation...drilled through one of the lids, sealed with an old airlock grommet. No dramas.

    Ntc Sensor Probe

Hi Josh, I have the same set-up as you and it works great. The sensor in most probes of this kind is located in the tip, so as long as it's dipped a few cm into the wort you will be OK. You just have to make you end up with at least 23L or so into fermenter. Which isn't really an issue...more...
