MEL: 5Gallon (18.9 litre) Better Bottle. Used once!

Hi Guys Up for sale I have a five gallon (often sold as 19L) Better Bottle fermenter. You can read about Better Bottles here: http://www.better-bottle.com/products_master.html Only used once for a ghetto (juice) cider. As I keg 99% of what I brew, fermenting in sub 19L batches doesn't suit...

Also happy to offer the services of my little bottler and capping machine. I'm in Kew and work in Box Hill and you're welcome to pick up from either.

    SMaSH Combinations

Exactly. Smoky, meaty, not sessionable. I seldom have more than one (though standing in Schlenkerla's ox-blood painted beer hall I mighta had three) A rauch would be an interesting thing to brew for me and I'd like to do one one day because of these wonderful Bamberg rauch memories. Dunno if...

    Ash Flavour In Beer?

Are you saying us electric BIABers need to find another way to step mash?

    Ash Flavour In Beer?

I am so happy I found this thread. I have been making an apricot wheat all-grain clone and straight out of the cube I knew something wasn't right. At first I thought it had a very strong smoke taste but couldn't quite put my finger on it. More tasting during primary and now secondary have it as...

    Show us your brewrig

Where'd you have your frame built, Camo? I'm looking to build a pretty similar rig as I want to move up from BIAB for volume reasons.

    Hop Dealz Australia

I don't have any first hand experiencing with POR yet but I had questioned the last two additions of POR myself. Oh well, the great thing about experimenting with this hobby is that you tend to still end up with beer. :)

    Hop Dealz Australia

Are you the best hop selling bloke around or what?! Thanks mate! I've been tempted by this recipe here http://aussiehomebrewer.com/blog/123/entry-436-australian-pale-ale-all-grain-2/ thus the need for the POR.

    Apricot Puree

ended up with three tins of Woolworths select (had the highest % of fruit per can at 62%). Will make a bath of boiled water, dunk the lot, strain, weigh, throw in a new fermenter then rack on top. Strangely the wort has quite a burnt smell that I wasn't expecting - I BIAB so I'd expect evidence...

    Apricot Puree

I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to prepare them - I'll be adding them pretty (Very?) late in fermentation so I want them to be pretty clean, which was where buying already processed stuff was so appealing.

    Apricot Puree

So the nectar is full of sugar and Craftbrewer just called me to say they won't have any of their stuff for 2-3 weeks. I'm at about day four of fermentation :( Might have to go baby food hunting and see if there's any 100% Apricot baby food out there. BUMMER.

    Hydrometer vs Refractometer

I wonder the same thing. My pre-fermentation samples quite often have a fair bit of chunky floaty stuff in them. As long as the chunky floaty stuff isn't sugar, I don't think it'll impact the measurement?

    BIAB bit of a fail.

That's fantastic mate. With my electric element I don't have much change from six hours for a single batch - the includes prep and cleanup.

So are you stepping down the voltage to the usual 3V or something? Would love to know how you did this as due to a new fridge Im about to build my third STC1000. Did you post these photos to support a discussion somewhere? If you did, I cant find it. :)

Considered that early on in the piece. I think nectar is sweetened. Probably worth double checking when the stores reopen though.

    Apricot Puree

Ooh I hadn't spotted that on Craftbrewer though I'm sure I looked. Do you know the ingredients? Is it an extract of some sort or just apricot? That's the leading option so far!
