    Anyone here do app development?

Is it bluetooth or bluetooth LE (eg, the kind you find in smart watches)? Cross platform bluetooth development is, well, not really there. There seems to be some more focus put on bluetooth LE, and other robotics orientated stuff (required you run another platform on the receiving end as well)...

    heating for fridge

I've used just a normal heat pad in my ferm chamber, got it sitting on the door shelf with some air space all around it (put in some spacers to give it space). It's only 30w, so it's not getting the chamber up to kettle souring temps, but it'll bring and hold fermentation up to about 24 degrees...

    Bayside Brewer's Oktoberfest 2017 (VIC)

Congrats all! I'm sure I came in a very hotly contested 4th, surely, right? :P Are the full results going to be published?

    Mash tun insulation

I've got the same stuff, also confirming it works well. I dont' have it attached permanently, BIAB setup, so it comes off for the boil, or it gets melty... I probably need to look at replacing it now, seems to be a bit too melted, not fitting too nice any more, etc... Seeing cheap foam mats a...

Priming by Shot pourer - carb drop alternative

I've done this before, using a syringe to measure out the required dosage for each bottle. How successful it is, well, not great results so far... Last batch got a bit of some bug in it, over carbed and tasting like crap... Got another batch sitting there ageing now, was entered into Vicbrew and...

Gas burner capacity for 5L batches

Yeah, I reckon I'd be putting the burners from that into a different frame, if only to give it more space. For some reason it seems to be cheaper to get that stand and 2 burners, than it would be to buy two 2 ring burners on their own...

Gas burner capacity for 5L batches

When you say portable gas stove, are you talking about the butane ones, or the proper LPG ones? I reckon 2 of these would work for you - http://www.bcf.com.au/Product/Primus-Double-Iron-Burner/215721?menuFrom=571613 But you'll need 2 gas bottles, or a line splitter or something to run 4...

    Burner upgrade

I've got one of the smaller 23(?) jet Mongolian burners, will easily boil 30L, also using a keggle like your system. No need for a high pressure or adjustable reg either, just a BBQ reg. A 9kg gas bottle will last probably 5-8 brews, depending on environment and boil times, etc. So, I would...

    Blood alcohol tester

Depends on what you want it for, if you're looking to keep your license, you'll want a half decent one, as Martin said, Fuel Cell, about $200-300. You also need to keep them calibrated, which is a once a year thing, from what I understand, you'll need to pay the manufacturer to re-calibrate it...

    VICBREW 2017

Nice turn around on the results! So close to a place this year, damn you people brewing better than me. Interesting list of Stewards and Judges, I could have sworn we had more Stewards around... Oh well! Thanks to the organisers, you guys have got a slick comp running now, very impressive...

What line length/size can you get away with with flow control taps?

I've found the opposite with FC taps, they add more foam due to all the disturbance through the FC components. I run like 5m of 4mm line normally for a non-FC tap and things work lovely, put a FC tap on there and it foams up like a mother...

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

Awwwwwww yeeeeeeeaah, make it rain! Nah, not doing this for any other reason than I needed this for my use, I thought others might find it useful.

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

Hrmmm, makes perfect sense to me, I think the work required to put that into the program itself, for that alone, would be overkill... I'll add it to the back burner, probably to be included if/when there more connections needed to a proper database of the entries. In the meantime, if you, or...

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

Yeah, barcode works, that had some pretty serious testing... Only reason Code 39 was chosen was the availability of a free font to distribute with the program. Density isn't a problem (in fact the opposite was almost a problem, with only 5 characters in use, the barcodes were incredibly small at...

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

Not quite, like your second post, they're just serialised sheets, no relation between entries or judges, until they're filled out. So, doesn't really matter if sheets are lost before filling them out, or if they're mixed up before, and after, filling them out, we can always tie that sheet back...

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

I like it, that could certainly work. We'd need to have a pre-compiled list of entries and the number of judges/scoresheets for each entry, but I don't imagine that will be an issue for most comps (and if it was, they probably wouldn't be looking to do something like this to begin with!). Where...

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

I've floated the idea of "digital scoresheets" to a couple of judges in the past, I'm still suffering from the scars and trauma I received from them that day... Joking aside, I can kinda understand the hesitation in moving to digital only scoresheets, it's hard enough to get good quality...

Gas check valves with MFL fittings

For those following along at home, I got these in, they're basically the same at the ones on the KegKing gas manifolds, except with MFL fittings instead of barbs. I'm not sure on the pressure drop across these, I think my measuring stick (aka, a pressure gauge attached to a ball lock...

    Beer Scoresheet Utility

G'Day AHBers Wasn't sure where best to post this, here or in the "Electronics, Hardware & Software" forum. Given this utility will only be of interest to those of us doing the behind the scenes work running comps, I decided here was better. If wrong, let me know... So, I've been developing a...
