Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

With my control panel I've allowed for an upgrade to a stand alone HERMS?RIMS unit with a twist.. since my IN is only 20amps which i've allowed for my elements pumps etc.. I've wired up my PID (second on the right) to output the SSR pulse to a port on the bottom of the panel instead of 240v for...

Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

It took me awhile to understand a few things but once I did it seem to snowball and my panel was built pretty quickly afterwards and with confidence it won't kill me.. I got as much as I could from Kals drawings then put them aside (referenced them) but drew my own up for my panel since I had a...

Pigs & Little - our electric brewery

I'm not trying to shaft you, I've built a couple of panels before and want to give out some advice that I've learnt over the years.. hopefully you don't run into the same issues I did which hold your build back.. Also when ordering form aliexpress you can't really afford to blow up your bits or...

Pigs & Little - our electric brewery

What gauge wire is that? You said you'll be running a 32amp control panel.. That wire doesn't look like 32amp wire, it more looks like 20amp.. might be a littler hard to see in the picture but thought I'd ask the question. Gavin

Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

Shooting down begins, well not really just cautions... When I built my panel,I went out of my way to understand what I was installing.. making sure that my wires and parts were connected up correctly.. I don't believe you should expect to blow parts up.. Just working off a plan which has been...

    My Heat Controller

really? oh wow.... I guess it's like people using car glycol instead of food grade, some people just don't think. Haven't had a chance to check out the parts yet, my wife is ready to pop our 3rd child.. Thought we were on for last night but seems to be a false alarm.. You can purchase the one...

    My Heat Controller

I don't have a thermowell my probes go directly into the pot, they're liquid tight. They did come with temp probes with themowells which I calibrated due to the heat loss of the thermowell around 1 - 2c . Heat past would do the trick but my temperatures don't climb quick enough to warrant that...

    New Brewery Pots

I've got a PID on my Boil Kettle which works great, although if you've got a 5500watt element in yours I'd suggest you get a PID which can be manually set instead of setting a temp of 100c+ (boil) it could boil this crap out of it. I've got my PID on my boil kettle to be set on 97% which will...

Haven't had a chance to look at that yet.. The way I mount my probes in my vessels is I use a tri-clover with a 1/2" thread... gav

    My Heat Controller

Not sure about the cost, I just pulled out my spares box and found everything... oh apart from the probes and pids which I raided the store for :) We have the probes in the store and PIDS.. got some new Probes in which have 20mm probes and 60mm... I could check my spares box again and see if I...

Starting an Electric Brew control panel for AG brewing

I questioned why you'd even want these AMP and VOLTS meters in, I'm not sure about you but when I'm brewing I'm not monitoring what my amps/volts are doing I'm more about the temperatures and times. I can see it looks cool on the panel but there's no real advantage. I always thought the electric...

    My New Brewery Build (pics)

I will have to rewire it for 32amp but currently 20amp so running the 20amp gauge wire... It works pretty well running all my pumps and elements only wigged out once, really want to get my brewery with a single 40amp/50amp plug but just don't have the kanga at the moment. Gav

Should have contacted us with the price you got, may have done a deal.. oh well you'll never know now :) .. what was your landed cost if you don't mind me asking? I have a 4800watt element in my kit which runs off a 20amp socket, If I was getting a socket put in my house I'd have min 32amp...

Problem with Auber SYL-2352 PID controller.

I was looking at the Auber unit when I did my kit but it didn't say what IP rating they were.. The timer i got from them doesn't look like it has a good seal i.e. not really splash proof they had a opening on the bottom.. How do the PIDs look when mounted? the PIDS I ended up with were ones...
