So how do the mystery chilli's taste? My second harvest of bunnings habs are mutated as but definitely don't have that distinctive scorpion tail like yours. Although the colour of yours is the same as my first harvest was before they went bright orange.

How does it taste? I have a show mead with a similar cloudy layer on the surface that drops when i move it. Don't have the krausen though. Mine also tastes fine. Taste it if its funky cut your losses if it tastes fine it probably is. Also what is the gravity reading?

Any idea what style wine has been in them? Trying to organize ourself so we can fill it asap to minimize the chance of bugs taking over. For the first few batches anyway. Then will be infecting it on purpose. Plans are for a nice spicy French Saison. Regular if white wine and dark if red barrels.

Leave it alone I'd be more worried about opening your fermenter and putting the spoon in there. Assuming you let the yeast warm to room temp and when washing the yeast collected enough cells it should be fine.

Heard the same thing. You pretty much summed it up with your last sentence. I've always sanitized even when using built in sanitizer cleaners you can never clean/sanitize too much.
