Big Brother is now Watching You

Hmmm where to start. This isn't the government implementing this, it's the isps, so don't count on the governments ineptitude. What it means(probably, I'm not 100% sure but do work in the industry) is that they will legally be able to track and log every site that you goto and as a bonus, have...

    Low dissolved oxygen brewing techniques

lol, I got 2nd in the same category with....a lodo Helles! I wouldn't credit it to the method so much. I entered a lodo Dopplebock that didn't place. I'm of the belief that if you're messing around with lodo, it's just because your into geeking out and trying different things to make good...

Gold Coast Amateur Brewing Competition - April 2017

It was mine. It's my standard base recipe for hoppy beers. I chill with a CFC but you could get a similar effect by cube hopping(maybe, I've never done it). The recipe was 85% Golden Promise, 10% Munich, 5% Sugar. 30g Columbus FWH, 100g Columbus hopstand for 30mins, 100g Simcoe hopstand for...

Gold Coast Amateur Brewing Competition - April 2017

I got 2 2nds from 3 beers. Happy with that. Thanks to the organisers for putting it on and I look forward to the next one.

    Hilary or Donald

Urgh. Here's a couple of good links by people smarter then you and I. If you read/listen to both of them I can't help but think you'll change alot of the views, however if you read/listen to both and still have the same views, so be it. http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=hire_women...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

Where would the wastage be if you bubbled it in through the dip tube? There are a plethora of people that do it that way. I just do it with my o2 wand and the benzomatic bottle. As long as you're oxygenating well and accurately, I wouldn't sweat the details.

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

That's false. I thought the same thing so didn't connect a keg with a spunding valve on my latest beer, a dopplebock pitched onto a yeast cake. One day in there was krausen coming out the spunding valve. I cleaned it up and the valve is fine but the lesson was learned. That was also at...

    Worst equipment purchases

I'll come to the defence of the filter. Firstly for all the people hating on it. I hear you and understand as I experienced all the issues and until recently mine was gathering dust, I hated it. It was clunky, leaky and I suspected was oxygenating my brews. I went to gelatin and although...

    Low dissolved oxygen brewing techniques

This is my lodo helles. Its a very nice beer if not a little too sweet for my tastes. I'm not sure if the lodo is responsible for it being a good beer though. I'm about to keg up a munich dunkel done the normal way with the same yeast (2308). It's far from a perfect side by side but it will be...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

The sample tasted great and it was at 1.011. I'm slowing bleeding pressure until I get to 15 psi and then will recap, do a d-rest(unnecessary based on the sample but good practice) then down to 4 degrees for a couple of weeks until a keg frees up

    Fermenting Under Pressure

What's the highest pressure anyone has gone up to during the active ferment? I just got back from a work trip, I had a munich dunkel fermenting at 10 degrees at 15 psi for 10 days before I left and thought it was close to done so I capped the fermenter. It was a pitch onto a previous yeast...

w34/70 - What can I use the yeast cake for thats not a lager?

w34/70 - What can I use the yeast cake for thats not a lager? My first thought was a india pale LAGER........

    Can't get that Euro aroma

I would be using 34/70, filtering(if you can do it without introducing oxygen) and keeping the water soft but adding a bit of gypsum to accentuate the late hops as opposed to just adding more. For me, using a German lager yeast would be key(2206 or 2308 as well) as for me that's what produces...

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

The mistake I made was last year was stressing over their growth, sunlight and nutrients. Once yours is growing, unless you're actively killing it, it will grow like a weed. Inches everyday at their peak. They are the easiest thing to grow ever.

Malcolm Roberts... oh my goodness gracious!

I would consider myself on the marxist side of politics but I don't mind peoples views for and against religion. They're fighting over make believe, like two bald men fighting over a comb. But when you disagree with the science of climate change and abuse your position of power by propagating...

Lager on tap 3 weeks from brew day

How long does the ferment take to get up to pressure? Do you have it at 15 psi the whole time?

    Low dissolved oxygen brewing techniques

First LODO brew done. A few things would have disqualified me from doing a GBF certified brew. I used a real wort porter starter for the first step of my yeast starter, I used a copper HERMS and CCFC, did a short rest at 55 to dough in below gelatinization, only treated the water to 20mg/L of...
