Mountain Goat Summer Ale and Steam Ale (Side-by-Side)

It's a great concept, a bit of a hybrid between a blonde/cream ale and an american wheat, but with fairly heavy late hopping. I wish more of them were at about the 4-4.4% mark though...

    Beetroot in a Saison?

Yeah I reckon the 'root will totally ferment out.

    Williamswarn Personal Brewery

It seems to me it's a bit like the old apple vs PC argument. The apple looks cooler and is more user friendly, but costs a lot more and user-friendliness comes at the cost of true flexibility (dry hopping a pain in the ass, only one beer at a time etc). The PC is uglier and harder to use, but...

    Christmas Lotto 2013

Damn it... not only did I not win again this year, but I lose 1 of 3 bottles left of a pretty decent english IPA :P Congrats to the winners!

    chocolate essence in stout

Reckon its best to err on the side of caution... So even 1ml per 500ml. If its not enough it will still be drinkable and somewhat nice... If its too much, you're ****** and its gonna take a very long time to get through the batch.

I did an IPA really early on when I was still doing extract that was really heavy on Amarillo, tasted like apricot nectar, didn't rate it one bit... but then I don't like apricot nectar. While I've made some good beers with under 50% amarillo for me I have to use with caution.

    $90 For A Crownie.

I had one of these (think the 2008) mid this year, and for those who have been wondering if it's worth it, that quote is exactly how I'd describe it. Would take a $20 long neck of chimay grand reserve over it any day.

Mountain Goat Summer Ale and Steam Ale (Side-by-Side)

That's true and a bit of a shame I reckon... That flavour at 3.8 or 4.0% would have been just the ticket for a summer guzzler... Smash a slab in front of a day's cricket with a mate and still be sober enough not to be in the doghouse with the missus!

Mountain Goat Summer Ale and Steam Ale (Side-by-Side)

They're both super sessionable, that's for sure. The summer ale is pretty much like drinking the beer equivalent of soft drink.

    Gage Roads Sleeping Giant IPA

Yes sorry mate, what method of brewing do you employ?

    HEAD RETENTION OF GLASSES

I don't know how washing beer glasses is somehow brain surgery... I either hand wash them or chuck em in the dishwasher. Never any problems unless the batch itself is ******.

    Gage Roads Sleeping Giant IPA

My guess would be pale ale malt or marris otter, some dark crystal, a bunch of fuggles or ekg to about 45-50 ibu. Neutral-ish english yeast like s-04.

    SMaSH Combinations

Bravo flies under the radar and is quite unique I reckon, I did a couple of single hops with it about a year ago, one of which got destroyed at a party in about 3 hrs... I did an english IPA a few months ago that turned out great, all EKG but with a bit of biscuit and dark xtal. I reckon it'd...
