    Carbonated Yeast Starter

How many packets and how big a bottle of apple juice? I would have just re hydrated it and pitched it considering it's dry. Were you going to pitch into some super large literage that required a starter? As I'm sure you know Co2 is just a by product of fermentation and as you had it in...

    Farmer Needed - Breeding program

It's got to be Amarillo :D Get that to adapt to Australian conditions and you might have something very special. Hoppy to B. You gave me a heap of rhizomes for free that I have distributed throughout the Adelaide home brew community. When you did this I though you were a pretty decent bloke...

short answer I bet 1056 will be fine. Brought it back from a year from packaging date. Cavet is how it's stored, how you bring it back, correct process ect. Info that will help is; Did the packs swell before you decanted into starter. How big a starter did you prepare? Is it on a stir plate...

    What Licence / Insurance?

Talking to a brewer a while back about this and he said the people at the licensing department were always particularly helpful. Might be worth giving them a call?

Beersmith: flameout, steeping, whirlpool hops; steep spec grains?

Another method I've seen is to add the darker grains to the mash closer to mash out. You'll need to get the home brew store to mill your darker gains and segregate them for you to achieve this. I've only done this once and it's in the fermenter so can't comment from exp yet.

    Yeast bought in snaplock bags

Can't get it there by Tuesday nor has it been in zip lock bags for x time to make it worth your while. I don't do the zip lock bag yeast thing. One thing you could do is a liquid yeast past it's use by date. I brew with all the out of date yeast I don't sell. Well past the date when the...

    Yeast bought in snaplock bags

Geeze I researched all that science "stuff" and your still intent on ear bashing each other. :D I think we have two polarized views on suitability of yeast packaging material. Best bet to aim somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure that's with zip lock bags but PET bottles have been used with...

Brewtech SS fermenting vessels discussion thread

Well I think I my have been one of lucky ones to get one of the first half barrels. Only just managed to source a upright freezer to fit the thing. Not to mention my 36hr battle with the defrost timer, heater sensor and various other modifications need to hold this bad boy. So my first...

    Kaixin Pumps

Capacitors can do that. Was a huge issue in motherboards a while back. If you can still distinguish the capacitor rating JCAR or similar store will supply them for a few $. Bit of soldier and you may be on your way,

    Cold filtered beer still hazy?

Good questions, Tried iodine once but was to impure to give a result (pharmacy) never attempted again. Tried another filter - slightly clearer but no where near crystal like I expected and no flavor left. Mash rest 30 mins. I whirlpool in the kettle and then pump from the fermenter post...

    Cold filtered beer still hazy?

I think this may be my last resort. Certainly added it a few weeks in with good success in the past. Warmed up version still exhibits a haze. So by what I can find from internet knowledge should not be chill haze.

    Cold filtered beer still hazy?

Sure does but I was under the impression in low qty shouldn't stop the beer clearing once filtered but at the moment that may be it. I ran a small amount through a new filter and similar clarity a little better but stripped flavour so stopped. This will teach me for not doing the usual gelatin...
