    Who has a brew book?

I don't mind paying for a decent service. The guys have obviously put in a lot of time and money developing these sites and should be entitled to some financial remuneration.

    Who has a brew book?

Beersmith lets you copy your recipes into "The Cloud", so if your computer crashes etc. you won't lose your recipes. Brewer's Friend is actually cloud based, so unless their server goes belly up, your recipes should be safe for ever. I formulate and play with recipes on my computer and keep...

    Who has a brew book?

I create recipes and record brew days and notes etc. in Beersmith. As mentioned above, I think you'll find that most people these days are using software rather than a book as such.

There is a No Chill hop adjustment table pictured in the article, but he doesn't seem to make any reference to it. I was also interested that he mentioned that his "No Chill" beers didn't drop as clear, as that's also been my experience with "No Chilling"

    Hefeweizen & Witbier

I was a little confused as to the differences between the two and this article did a good job of clearing things up for me.

    Brewer's Friend Website ?

I've been playing with this website a bit. As mentioned above, some of the calculators are fantastic, but the recipe design element, whilst showing promise, isn't as fully featured as Beersmith. If they could add Mash, Water and Fermentation Profiles that could be pre-filled and then selected...

    Brewer's Friend Website ?

I recently stumbled across the Brewer's Friend website. It looks like a good online alternative to Beersmith etc. I was wondering if anyone else used it and had any comments or feedback before I go signing up?

    Mudd's Randall

Here's a good Randall build Maybe a bit bigger than you're looking for though and not sure how you would modify it for use with pellets. I'm thinking that I may have to build myself one now. Great way of trying out different hops with a brew. Thanks for the inspiration. Edit: Spelling...

    How Long to Oxygenate wort?

Apparently dry yeast doesn't need to be oxygenated. From the Danstar Website I always aerate my wort when using liquid yeast. Do I need to aerate the wort before pitching dry yeast? No, there is no need to aerate the wort but it does not harm the yeast either. During its aerobic production...

    How to use Brewing Salts

I'll second this. I gave up trying to understand the chemistry, but with a good calculator, you don't need to understand it. As long as you know the water profile that you are starting with and what you want to achieve, the calculator will do the rest for you. Edit: Spelling

    How Long to Oxygenate wort?

It doesn't take long. I generally oxygenate through a stone for about 30 seconds to a minute. I've fitted a small oxygen flow meter / control valve similar to this one and throttle it back so that lots of bubbles aren't breaking on the surface and most of the oxygen is being retained in the wort.

    How to use Brewing Salts

I also use the EZ Water spreadsheet for my calculations and find it pretty accurate. Edit: Note to self: Should read full thread before posting. Removed repeated advice.

Depending on the size of the compressor box at the back it may only fit a couple of kegs. Cornelius Keg Dimensions are 585mm high by 230mm diameter. Edit: Dimensions added.

    Kegs, New vs second hand.

Mine are mostly second hand and I just replaced all of the O rings with silicone O rings. They work well. I prefer the second hand cornelius kegs as they have the rubber bottom and handles and are easier to move around when full than the ones with the metal handles.
