Wobbly, No I don't think that I have. Unfortunately I'm away at work at the moment, so can't check my records. Personally I don't get too excited about the water chemistry side of things. I just fiddle around in EZ Water, add roughly what it tells me to and generally end up with pretty good beer.

No. I'd never thought of that before. I only have to add a few ml of lactic and just use a small syringe.

Wobbly, Maybe try with 100% rain or RO water and see if you still get the same results. It could be that the 10% tap water is way out from the water reports and is throwing the spreadsheets off. Or maybe not.

I use a plywood shelf that sits on the hump at the rear of the fridge and has two wooden legs at the front. I should really get a hole saw and cut some ventilation holes in it.

I use RO water and the EZ Water spreadsheet to calculate the mineral and (Lactic) acid additions, which I add before mashing in. I then check the PH during the mashing process and adjust if I need to, which isn't very often.

I experienced the same with beer that I'd carbonated in the Keg and then transferred to PET bottles. The PET bottles just didn't seem to retain the carbonation. Now if I bottle beer at all I use glass bottles and have given the PET bottles away.

I use mine to flush the beer lines on the beer fridge. Fill bottle with hot water, connect quick disconnect, open tap and squeeze bottle to flush.

Where do you get a $30 immersion chiller? I made mine and the copper pipe cost more than that.

No, but I've researched them and they look the goods. My only concern would be how much wort you loose to the cooling system it's self. I reckon that you would loose a couple of liters in a decent sized version. This is worth a watch. It's a three part series...

Thanks for that. I downloaded the English version, but unfortunately it was all Greek to me. I'm hoping that I won't need to get into any programing and that the controller will work out of the box. Can anyone confirm this.

What's the difference between the two revisions. I'm technically challenged, so if there isn't a huge difference between the two version and the controller work with the old version, then I'll probably just stick with that. What are the advantages of upgrading to the new version? Thanks

I'm really looking forward to the build thread. I'll be tied up with work until about Feb next year. So hopefully there will be plenty of detailed build instructions here by the time I get around to assembling mine. Great effort Lael.

Not really. I really did the switch as I only had a small rainwater tank, which was fine for the winter, but soon ran out of the water when brewing in the summer, so I purchased a small RO unit to give me consistent water quality all year round. Both require mineral additions.
