What are good places to Drink in these U.S and Canadian Citys...

Check out Sam Adams and Harpoon breweries in Boston. Both have free tours with a decent amount of free beer and even a glass to keep at the end. Get on one of the early tours at Sam Adams though, it gets busy.

    RecipeDB - Dark Mild

A bit off topic........ but what do people consider the difference between a dark mild and southern english brown or are they basically the same? I have a SEB fermenting grain bill of; Maris Otter 82% Dark Crystal 11% Wheat 4.5% Black 2.5% OG 1040 FG 1011ish mashed at 67C IBU @ 20 with...

    Amber Brew a little disapointing....

That would give you a 2.5% ABV beer. Also ingredients sound like an english ale not an American Amber if that's what you were expecting.

pH meter - Useful or not?

The accuracy is +/- 0.1 which I think is adequate.

pH meter - Useful or not?

pH meters are not expensive - $10 including delivery. I bought one like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Digital-PH-Meter-Tester-LCD-Monitor-Water-Aquarium-Pools-Soil-0-0-14-pH-Range-/360573859928?pt=AU_Pool_Spa_Beach&hash=item53f3e07858 It works well. Been using it for about a year and haven't...

    2nd Queensland Home Brewing Conference - 13th July, 2013

I agree, not enough beer. And if you were at the back of the queue you had to rush the drinks. Great speakers and very informative conference, but more beer and more than 2 people pouring drinks next year I hope.

    Singapore 2012

Heading there for the first time in a couple of weeks also. My hotel is close to this place http://www.tawandang.com/ and was going to check it out. I can't vouch for it and dont know anyone who has been there, but it's stumbling distance from my hotel so it would be rude not to visit.

What Hops To Buy From Nz For Ipa'ish Beers?

Not sure how they will go in an IIPA, but I made a great Amber Ale using Wai-iti hops in late. Definitely worth a go....... great hop!

    Top 10 Yeasts

i'll leave it in the fermentor for at least 10days. maybe next time i'll let it sit a bit warmer for the last couple of days. it must have been only a slight hint of diacytl, none of the other 4 judges picked up on it.

    Top 10 Yeasts

I must admit that I have never detected diactyl in any of the beers I have brewed with 1882, however one judge did in a comp last year. So it might be there, but like me you don't notice it.

    Top 10 Yeasts

I'm a big fan of the 1882 too. Missed out on it this time round, hopefully they'll release it again next year.
