Apology for misunderstanding mate.
I have never done that so I cant personally help.
If doing that I would imagine the adjustment amounts would be very small in a glass size adjustment
hi wobbly,
i just use EZ Water spreadsheet or there are others available as well.
Martin has one as does brewers Friend and Beersmith.
As far as I know they all give you a reading of PPM in your water as you add the various salts into the spreadsheet.
By using one of these spreadsheets you...
When I no chill I inject a bit of Co2 into the bottom of the cube and transfer wort through a silicon hose.
I also run the wort very slowly for the first few litres and tilt the cube towards the hose end so as the wort coming into the cube is discharging under the surface as soon as is possible.
As it has been said, splashing hot wort will cause oxidation
Just on a side note, stale hops that are poorly stored can offer many strabge flavours to the finished beer.
Handle hot wort very carefully and go and buy some new hops that are supplied in nitrogen filled packs from a reputable hbs...
You are fine hooper80, a very normal enquiry railroaded by some who appear to have a personal adgenda supporting disruption
had to get rid of the crap barls these clowns obviously showed no respect at your suggestion
you my friend, would be the best at dragging a subject off topic
You would do...
Many types of yeast can get phenols at higher temperatures and some yeast have that characteristic as normal.
Instructions by the yeast manufacturers should be followed for best results.
The OP is blaming a dirty fermenter for an off taste and that is really a broad generalisation, similar to my above statement.
We can all comment as to how he should clean, sanitise and prepare his fermenter for the next ferment.
Personally if it was me and I was positive it was my fermenter I...
Let it go Vini2ton
Please keep your posts here remotely on topic.
This topic is not about labour hire in the Yarra Valley. ...it is about a type of beer.
Sodium percarbonate, apart from its first reaction when added to hot water is really only SOAP.
Acids and alkalis are what you need for sanitation.
High temperature and time is what you need for sterilising...
Horizon is a great bittering hop and is In my opinion, neutral.
Northern Brewer, Magnum, Tettnang, or even at a pinch, Cluster or Galena will do the business.
An authentic pils will need authentic hops.
There are many other things that may cause an infection in a ferment.
Yeast quality.
Water quality if topping up after the boil.
Air quality in the brewhouse.
Plumbing on the brewery itself.....ball valves, tubing, fixed piping etc
Contaminated equipment that come into contact with the...
I had a sample the other day and in my opinion it makes coopers Celebration taste like water.
I did detect a small amount of diacetyl but not to the detriment of the beer.
I have tried their wheat as well and found it a bit too tart for my liking but a reasonable beer just the same.
I have got...
I have a JG fitting on my co2 guage tubing and I just pop it apart at that join and stick the hose into the cube.
I hold my hand over the lid area and when I feel the cold Co2 I then turn the gas off and fill the cube immediately with the hot wort.
You can actually see the co2 in the bottom as...
