    Dubbo Brewery?

Hi earle, I don't get to Dubbo too often, but I'm in that region (Central West). I hadn't heard of anything starting up and from experience, your only chance to escape megaswill is Dan Murphy's. The the odd pub may have James Squires on tap, but it's rare. If your travels take you to Mudgee...

    NSW State Comp 2015

Happy enough for the 2 bottle thing. Best case scenario, I have a fresh unopened bottle for BOS judging. Worst case scenario, I've donated a bottle of beer to the volunteers as a thank you for giving up their time.

    Tooheys Pale ale

I'm interested enough to give this a try, but yeah the "non-challenging flavour" hasn't got me holding my breath. Actually called into Dan's last night to see if they had a six pack but couldn't see it. Grabbed a four pack of Innis & Gunn Original Oak Aged Beer instead as I hadn't tried it. Very...

    "Dropping" No-Chilled beers?

Do cold crash after fermentation? I ferment in the cube, and I basically just watch the hose closely during all transfers. After flameout, I don't whirlpool. I used to but waiting 10-15 min for the convection currents to stop, then whirlpooling, then waiting another 10-15 for everything to...

    Anzac Beer with Belgian?

For what it's worth I'm about to keg an ANZAC biscuit beer. The recipe is from the Homebrew Calendar other posters have referenced on here. The original recipe is a partial but I had a crack at converting to AG. It tasted very much like ANZAC biscuits before pitching the yeast so looking forward...

Favorite slab for under a pinapple

Same, can usually get it at Dan's or BWS for under $50. Having said that, if I'm stuck, I'll often duck over to a small independent supermarket in the next town which sells cases of Badlands Pale Ale (local craft brewery) for $60.

    NZ Fuggles substitute

Cheers for the replies BD and BG. Not able to paste the exact recipe at the moment, but basically it's a version of ANZAC Biscuit Beer from the Homebrew Calendar. It's a sweetish American Amber Ale. The recipe calls for 1g/l Challenger as bittering, then 0.5g/l each Challenger and NZ Fuggles @...

    NZ Fuggles substitute

Hi all, I've got a recipe which calls for NZ Fuggles for flavour/aroma. I'm having trouble sourcing some, tried my usual online suppliers and google but didn't come up with much. Any tips on a close substitute. Logic would tell me UK Fuggles, but from what I've read they taste very different. I...

    Sail & Anchor Pale Ale

I don't mate, but the website linked in the OP does. It would appear it is a re-branding of the Woolies range, but to me it tastes a lot better. However, I don't think I ever actually tried the Monkey's Fist Pale from the first incarnation, I think I only ever had the Golden (Lark's Foot???)...

BBQ gas bottles: Swap n Rort

Not a swap and rort story, but still The Big Green Shed. I asked the wife to buy an empty 9kg gas bottle at Bunnings for a caravan we recently bought. While she was looking at them, an employee came up and said, 'Don't buy those, no one around here can fill them.' My wife, a bit puzzled as we...

    Sail & Anchor Pale Ale

OK, that was my initial thought, should have run with that. Either way, I found the Pale Ale very nice. I've since tried the Golden Ale and IPA. THE GA was average IMO, pretty bland. The IPA was bit like the Sleeping Giant, a nice beer, just not an IPA. Haven't tried the Amber Ale yet, but the...

    S-04 is super fast

What temp did you ferment at? I'm not a fan of S04 as I've had it stall a couple of times and had to fluff around to get it to finish off. Having said that it's currently munching away through a single hopped Mosaic pale ale quite happily.
