    Which beersmith?

I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as Beersmith Gold, Platinum or Professional until I searched after reading your post. I've been using Beersmith standard/regular, or whatever it's called, for about 5 years and have zero need to upgrade. I'd be inclined to get the standard version...

    2x 26L Kegmenters & Spunding Valves (Lake Mac/Newcastle)

Geez they shouldn't take long to go. 26 litre kegmenters have been a bit scarce lately.

    Not China or Russia

That could have been so much worse. 1 or 2 seconds either way and who knows, best not to contemplate. I had an axle break on a tandem trailer once and the wheel went bouncing off the side of the road and into a wire fence. I'd just turned a corner when it happened, so I was driving slowly...

What's the purpose of the 1hr boil?

There's a book titled How to Brew. A free online version is available, which only has US measurements, but there's also an updated hard-copy version, which has metric measurements. It is a great place to start and many brewers used it when they started out and many still do use it. Myself...

What's the purpose of the 1hr boil?

You don't want to boil your grain at all. Unless you're going to do a decoction mash step and I doubt that you're doing that.

    Star San

If you're using it as a 'no rinse' sanitiser, then stick to the instructions. At some point though, you might have a stainless steel product that may require passivation. If that ever happens, a much stronger mix can help. In my experience, ph strips are not very reliable. If you're at a...

“I have a Problem” most beers taste good!

There's a book called Bronzed Brews, that might have what you're after. Plenty of discussion about the book here too.

Storing bulk grain in humidid climate

Definitely store in an air tight container. I can't see how storing grain in an opened bag, without completely sealing it, would be enough to keep the humidity and insects out. We get some pretty humid days here on the Sunshine Coast and I use 60 litre and 30 litre canoe drums, 5 and 10 litre...

    Swing Tops

Off loading 48 swing top bottles. 425ml & 500ml Grolsch, 450ml EZ Cap & 500ml Altenmunster. (I think they're the sizes.) Most are clean, some are a bit manky. If I get time I'll give them a rinse. Included are the 2/ ply wood six pack holders pictured, which I made a couple of years ago...

That looks more like orange juice.

    Biofine

I only use it in beers that I want to get really clear. Mostly lagers, kolsch's and bright ales. I don't make many saisons or hefes. You could use it in a saison, but I wouldn't use it in a hefe. Unless you were making a Krtistal, then it would be useful. If the IPA is meant to be cloudy I...

    What are you listening to

It's 'music' that makes me want to cut my ears off.

    What are you listening to

Just my wife and I. No dogs allowed. No booze or glass allowed to be taken in either. Apparently they do vehicle searches upon entry, but caravans have plenty of nooks and crannies and with a bit home-brewer innovative cunning, I hope to be able to slip a few in under their noses.

Going to Blues Fest at Byron this coming Easter. Haven't been before, really looking forward to it.

    Lauter Helix.

Make sure you put the Lauter Helix in before you add the strike water. I forgot today and had to wrestle it into place with about 65 litres of water in my Brau. I add my water cold so that's ok. But I can't find an option on Beersmith that allows me to add 25ml of armpit sweat into my recipe.
