My Keg Setup - need a review

The down side is that in making ahle for the gas line you reduce the insulation properties of the fridge so it will need to run more often. Keeping your bottle in the fridge replaces air that spills out when you open the fridge, with a lump of cold metal that helps keep the temperature more...

Replacing deformed plastic gas dip tubes

Yeah they sell one but its actually just a corny one and they tell you to drill out the hole, haha. http://www.easykegging.com.au/shop/all-products/firestone-dip-tube-gas/ There are no obvious difference from the outside that I can tell between the two types of kegs. I have both types that...

    Rain Water Tank Filter

I grew up on a farm where we used water from a dammed spring. We had chalets on the property so we needed to treat the water before it was consumed (health regs I think). We had a tank that was kept full from the dam, then before the water entered the pressure pump on its way to the...

Replacing deformed plastic gas dip tubes

Used cornies. It's only the gas dip tube that is different. About half of my kegs have them. Pretty sure some of them are from Keg Land. From my research I think they are the firestone kegs. Its a common issue apparently. I can find replacement dip tubes overseas but not locally. Replacement...

Replacing deformed plastic gas dip tubes

I just discovered that one of my kegs was leaking at the gas in post and lost most of a 6kg cylinder. I should have realised when the beer was loosing carb. Live and learn. After spraying a bunch of foamy starsan on the tip of the keg to find the leak I removed the post and noticed the top of...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

My point was that if you are pressure fermenting, the temperature difference is not as critical due to the higher pressures suppressing ester production. Some people are reporting the clean fermentation of ales at 26c at 1 bar, so its plausible that the difference between 20c and 21c at...

Urn power - electrical safety question pls

The resistance may increase under load or as it heats up? I'd try it, just monitor the temp fo that plug, that's likely most worrying part.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

I agree, I don't think it will be an issue. It certainly wont be a safety issue as the KL thermowells bolt from the outside and I doubt they would leak at fermentation pressures. They would likely handle any pressure you really need from a kegmenter. This being said. I'm not convinced a...

Kegmenter. Are they good to use?

I just dry hop from day dot. Transfer to serving keg after 5 days. Leave for a week at room temp in serving keg before chilling. Did a pacific ale style last week, after kegging it I drank the leftovers directly from the kegmenter and they were delicious. Full of passionfruit aroma and flavour...

    Robobrew V3 vs Guten

On a standard house GPO circuit, the wiring can take a lot more than 10A. The function of the breaker is to protect the wiring. Most GPO circuits will have a 16A or 20A breaker because there is more than one outlet on each circuit. You will usually find you can run two 10A loads on circuit, at...

    New Kegland Grain Mill

Never used one so I'm not sure. I would think it would be a lot slower given the rollers are so narrow. The aperture the grain passes through is smaller so flow rate would be restricted.

when using a thermowell in a kegmenter, should some thermally conductive compound be used in the well with the thermistor/thermocouple?

    19L portable set up

Its a plastic picnic tap on a length of beer line. You can pull the line through the hole, pour a beer, then push the line back into the hole, hence 'retractable'. Its super simple solution, nothing fancy. The 400g bottle I have I don't think is available any more. Keg King used to distribute...

Cheap kegs - what's the catch?

You can upgrade these to ring pull. Ring pull are better as you lock them open by pulling up one the ring and turning it 90 degrees.

    Adding fruit after pressure ferment

I wuould release all the pressure, remove the top lid and add fruit, put lid back on and purge the headspace again with CO2. Any residual o2 tha got in will probably eb used up by the yeast as it goes to work on the fruit. There is no way you can add fruit without adding 02 so just do it the...

Getting Tea Tree oil out of stainless

Add some sodium perc to the the boil. Sodium perc works a lot better at higher temp. Don't use straight sodium perc, use unscented napisan or something similar like PBW as they have other ingredients like surfactants that help break down oils too.
