I used an asahi keg to make my HERMS.

Quick Disconnects / Camlock - Advice

sounds to me like you need to install a tap between the vessel & the cam lock / QD so that it is only the liquid in the hose that may spill. Then again I may have mis-read what you're trying to say. i know that you can get garden hose fittings with a "stop" valve built in. when you disconnect...

    Milk contains amylase....

"The mash was bubbling in it at a uniform rate" sounds like they were doing a cereal cook rather than "mashing". The poor quality malt available made terchniques like cereal cooking & decoction necessary. My suspicion is there was more to the process that the 'observer' didn't see / wasn't told...

Specs for SS drums for 3V HERMS?

As @gava states importing stuff can be a pita with lots of hidden costs Have a look at these guys on the NSW mid north coast: http://www.australiapacificworldtraders.com/products/150l-stainless-steel-drums/ no idea on cost or quality. I have affiliation blah blah Edit: they also have...

WTB 150 to 300 litre 3V brew rig

@drtablet, Hope you found the pics. It's pretty easy to piece together. The biggest expense is probably the kettle - big pots aren't cheap. See if you can find someone who uses GNS 9grain neutral spirits) - it comes in nice SS drums with a spring clamp lid ;-) if you find some let me know...

WTB 150 to 300 litre 3V brew rig

You'll be pushing it to find brewers upscaling as you suggest! I reckon you're better off doing what I did a few years back: 1. made a 200l mash tun out of a hdpe drum wrapped in armaflex or similar. Bought massive braid from earls hoses & fitted it using a T piece & hose barbs. Total cost...

    Summer Ale/Blonde recipe feedback

my comments are more on your process than the recipe... 85% efficiency - is that what you normally achieve or it it your expectation? Are you doing a double batch mash & running off into a vessel & then splitting that into 2 brews & using different 15 min additions? What yeast?

Hi guys, I got a keg modified a while back by a top welder in Port Macquarie while I was working up there. Now I'm back in Sydney & have another project, I'm looking for someone to do some cutting and welding on another keg. Looking for someone who will do a decent job at a reasonable price...

    Help planning a 120L System

Three things: 1. Think outside the square. Instead of using a HLT, why not install a commercial instantaneous gas hot water service? They will hit 75*C and mean you don't need another vessel. 2. Why not make some of your own gear? 200l poly drums are cheap (I bought 1 for $19 a few weeks ago to...
