    Steam Exchange

Duke of Brunswick has consistently had the Steam Ale on tap the last few times I was there. Wish there were more pubs around town with Steam Exchange beers on tap...

    Esky Mash Tun Question?

Just to offer another option to someone who wants to do AG on the cheap FROM someone who does AG on the cheap... If you already have an esky >= 20L, just use that as your mash tun and build a seperate Lauter tun out of a 20L food grade bucket (you can source these buckets free by asking around...

Eeeek! Have I Wrecked This Brew?

If you were due to bottle, I assume it had finished fermenting, which means you should be fine i think. Will probably be some more schools of thought on this, but if there are frozen bits in the brew, i would give it a couple of days to warm up at room temperature, then bottle as normal. You...

    Yeast Dna Map News

Hi All, Heard about the following article this morning on JJJ news, they have mapped the DNA of yeast strains. "We now have a view of the variation across the entire species, which will allow us to make better combinations for better uses of things like beer and wine," Linky

    Hoegaarden Ag Clone

If its got a good froth on top it may be fermenting and you may not have a good seal on the lid. It wont matter if this is the case, you dont need a good seal on the lid. The easy way to test that theory is to squeeze the sides of the fermenter, if you get bubbles through the airlock then, it is...

    Mating Your Fridge..

I wouldnt let it concern you, keep it away from the condenser, somewhere near the middle you will be fine. Some encase it in a block of foam and tape the foam to the side of the fermenter, but personally i dont believe in this, I think it is counter-productive (can be a topic of debate...)

    Hoegaarden Ag Clone

Hi HM, Has the ferment kicked off yet? Dont mean to worry you, but if you brewed it on Sunday, it should be up and running by now. Is your WYeast pack an Activator, or Propagator pack (should say on it)? Does it have a use by date? I assume you didnt make a starter?

    Commercial Beer

I have a fairly basic Kegerator at home myself, and have been asked more than a couple of times before by non home-brewers if they could have a similar setup, but just use commercial beer. My response generally is that it is possible, but it would be difficult and expensive, and might not be...

    Hoegaarden Ag Clone

I did a Wit a few weeks ago, 50/50 JWM Trad : Raw Wheat which was sourced straight from a farm and self-torrified in the microwave. Did a single infusion mash approx 65deg for 90 minutes, batch sparged and my efficiency was great. Step-mash definately NOT required to convert raw wheat in a 50:50...

    Singapore - Where To Drink

In singapore a couple years back I couldnt help indulging a bit of Tiger, don't mind it at all really for a nice cold inoffensive beer on a hot-humid day. Speaking of which, has anyone else been to the Tiger LIVE tour in Singapore? The funniest thing I had seen in ages. I was of the impression...

    210 Litre Freezer

Yeah, cheers for the suggestion, just thought it might be a bit wierd given that I would need to take a look before I even bid, and I dont know that I will get a chance to. Further to the post above, given the internal dimensions of 600x750x500, and the hump dimensions of 200x250x500, it...

    210 Litre Freezer

Wow, from all of the feedback it was sounding like it would fit 3 easy, but I have done a bit of sketching up from the internal dimensions Robbo provided me, which were straight from the horses mouth, and it looks like a pretty tight squeeze! If my Cornies are 215, rather than 210, they might...

    210 Litre Freezer

Hi all, I have been in the market for a chest freezer to mount a font on top of for a few months now, and one that looks suitable has just come up on ebay. I am just a bit concerned that it may not be big enough. I would LOVE to be able to fit 3 Corny's in there without installing a collar...

Soft Drink On Tap? Will It Work?

I have also made soft drink (via soda stream mix) and poured from the keg without problems. HOWEVER, I tend to carb it MUCH higher than my beer, and it is worth noting that I pour at a much higher pressure also (cant remember how high). One possible problem with pouring all foam might be...

    Worst Stuck Sparge

You could try sparges with half your mash, poke holes in your mash bed, agitate or cut your mash bed while lautering?

    Coopers To Brew Budweiser

It seems a bit wierd, but I can't see any problem with it. As previously mentioned higher profits will be good for survival, bring jobs and money to SA (rather than the States), and praps help prevent Coopers falling victim to another hostile take over bid by Lion Nathan. But what if I dont...

    Why I Love Kegs....

Kegging is the best purchase I have made in my brewing career. If not for the kegs I would have got sick of the effort years ago. LOVE THE KEG!
