    Infection Photo Thread

For all you folks, see if you can get Proxitane, some pool places stock it, and chemical stockists. It's peroxy acetic acid, 1ml to 1 ltr dilution, do a group buy. Fantastic stuff, lasts for ages and you wont get another infection :beerbang:

    Efficiency according to Brewmate

I agree with Edak Your brew should take into account losses in heat exchanger, chiller etc etc and compensate for this, and for this reason you might need to add extra malt and water to counteract losses. Grain efficiencies are all different too, depending on it's type, age and the mashing...

    Buying Grain In Perth

Hey Dude, I'm in Ellenbrook, if you like we can hook up for a beer and maybe check each others gear out, talk ***** over a pint. I've always gone to twoc, but, his prices are a bit high on the grain. Just bought $800 of gear from him. I have been absent from this forum and WestCoast Brewers for...

Recommend Me A Reverse Osmosis Kit Please

Hi Bribie, The PPM just refers to Total Dissolved Solids ( TDS), and you are correct, it does involve carbonates, metals, etc. But one good thing about filtration is that it also gets rid of cholrines, fluorides, chemicals ( trihalomethanes, Heptochlor, Benzines, etc etc.) Personally I think a 1...

    Keg Transfer Made Easy...

Hi All, Transfering beer needn't be so difficult at all. There are 3 instances when I transfer. 1/After putting fermented beer in keg to go into fridge for a week or so @ ~2Deg C to get dropout or clear beer, no need to filter. 2/ Transfer to 5 L party keg. 3/ Transfer to Bottles. 1/ I dont...

    Can I (herms Rig)

Hi All, Just thought I would add a little note as I have done both the RIMS and HERMS. I much prefer the latter, and the reason is; No Hot or cold spots in the mash bed, temp is equal throughout, giving you precise conversion S.G levels, easier to control. If you have a thermostat connected to...

Recommend Me A Reverse Osmosis Kit Please

I f you are getting tap water at 58ppm, then that's bloody beaut. Why use an RO system at all, you just need a sediment and carbon filter. Perth water in my area is 371ppm

Recommend Me A Reverse Osmosis Kit Please

Hi All, Using a RO system from PSI Filters, comes with a storage tank. Mine is a 12 litre tank, 4 stage system and I average around 12 to 20ppm with the filters I use ( you can get filters that totally strip the water bare) . With this system I also got a free TDS Meter. My water supply where I...

    March Pump Flow Rates

Hey, Some good advice here. I too have a rims herms system combo. My heatexchanger is in my HLT which is temp contolled by a PID which has 2 thermos, one for the HLT and one for the MT. March pumps are brilliant as they provide more than enough flow rate and dont mind being turned down to a...

    Gas In The Line

Sorry for the hijack but I think your line is too short. Mine is 5m, longer = slower pour, shorter = faster pour. My sys is always under pressure and no leaks. Leak check regularly with soapy water in spray bottle. You will get it right dont worry. :beerbang: Hawko

vh, Size is a 10kg bottle Gas codes and bottle code are; 082 and VT respectively. I use a average amount for brewing, you know, recycling cleaners and sterilising etc etc plus carbonation of course. I made up a brass gas manifold with 4 gas taps with barbs so I can do multiple tasks without...

    Warm Lager Or Cool Ale?

Tangent, Sounds like a nice brew. I'm not really that keen on dried yeasts, prefering to use Wyeasts, but I have to admit when I decide to do an Ale on the spur of the moment, I always use Safale. It's quick to mutliply, attenuation is good and I would recommend 18 to 22 Deg C. IMO lagers...

    Co2 Bottles

Hi, I have a BOC food grade CO2 bottle of gas and it will last you quite a while. It MUST BE food grade. Fire extinguishers, well, MMmmmm, wouldn't touch it myself. I would just rent the bottle as when you take it back for a refill, they just exchange the bottle. They all keep up the...

    Electric Hlt Set Up

Hi Folks, Just to add my 2 cents worth regarding the plastic HLT and Boilers. I too wanted to increase production quantities to 50L but couldn't find a plastic container suitable, for it has to be FOOD SAFE grade for starters. I contacted and subsequently visited a manufacturer of all types...

Superfulous work Rosco, but where do you keep all the kegs to supply those 10 taps. Are all your beers able to be fed at the same time through the post? Your only means of cooling is the glycol unit is that right? Top stuff Hawko
