    Finings: Necessary?

Hasn't affected me yet in the 5yrs I have been doing it  Come to think of it none of my regulars evers hown any signs of side affects either  Have entered beer into state and national comps and it has not been a problem. Dunno......... Maybe I oughta call in the "Myth Busters"...

    Finings: Necessary?

Take my opinion either which way. I am a AG brewer. I find that AG beer (mine that is) clears a lot quicker with finnings. I am a kegger and a bottler. Yes I know it shouldn't matter how clear it is but when one has friends over its nice to present something that looks drinkable. My process is...

    wild yeast

What gets me is how winery's sometimes promote a wild yeast taking hold and really I can't pick it. Get a wild yeast in my beer at home and argh!! Mind you, if one wants to make a weird arse farmhouse ale one expects that, argh! BYB

    Various Hops Sale

Sorry for any misleading Batz. (I think  ) The hops were broken down from a larger quantity when first purchased. Hope that clarifies things.

    WY3068 Weihenstephan pitching rate

Sometimes I think we get a little hung up on pitching rates. Unless one has access to a lab to do a cell count just work on the fact that a fully expanded smack pack should easily be enough to inoculate a standard wort. I use 3068 all the time for my house wheat. Now shoot me down in flames here...

    ~100L setup questions

My latest (4yrs now) brewery. I reckon I've punched out around 3 - 4 thousand ltrs and still going strong. 98 ltr Robinox HLT with a 3.6kw element 70 ltr Robinox MT 98 ltr Robinox Kettle + 23 Jet mongolian burner. These things really pump out the heat. Industrial type water filter housing...

    Adelaide West End Brewery Fountain

I live in the Barossa so can't say whether our water is the same or not. Only an hours drive to the CBD from here. What I will say is that I have used the tap water here in the Barossa for quite a few years now. The only thing I do to it prior to use is run it through a carbon filter. BYB

Is a single 2200w element enough?

So just to rephrase. You want to know whether a hand held 2.2kw element will boil 40ltrs of wort? My answer, it may struggle to get a good rolling boil. I have tried in the past.
