    Growing Hops

Yeah I'm keen to swap some cascade for whatever's going at the end of the season. Wort I wouldn't mind a seedling. When the sun is up tomorrow I'll have a look for a shoot on my cascade to trade ;-)

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

Guys, just confirming that the user manual for v 2.6.7 is as per v 2.6.62 in the dropbox link here?

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Build/Advice/Question Thread

For someone who failed Electrical Engineering 101, can you clarify what's actually going on in the box? :D From my limited understanding: The SSRs switch the heating elements on/off (which are instructed by the PCB (or the Arduino? This part I also don't know)). Given that the pump is such a...

Got mine! Must admit, now that it's finally here I'm a touch overwhelmed. Better watch that video a few more times!

Awesome. I'm in Carine. Hoping that the wife was home when it was delivered so that I don't have to get up at stupid o'clock to collect it from the depot tomorrow!

    Craft Beer Bars: Perth CBD

We've got another craft beer bar in the CBD now called Petition. Corner of St Georges Tce and WIlliam street. Has an awesome selection of tap beers (about 15-20 taps). Rotating constantly. Highly recommend.

    Growing Hops

I'm in Carine and I grow cascade. It starts late, but then picks up really quickly. Like mkj says, keeping it out of the scolding sun is key, but make sure for at least a good portion of the day there's direct sunlight. Water all the time, and I feed it with seasol.

2016 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

I really should just buy a couple of bits and pieces and do that one time. Given I'm here once a year that'd give it plenty of time to lager!

Sadly I don't brew when I'm holidaying over here so might go into a teapot :-S

Smells spicy, quite grassy, touch of fruitiness and the lup is golden and plentiful.

Just to get everyone giddy. Here are Spalt hops picked yesterday (from old bine growing at our family house in Bavaria). Hopefully my actual plants back in Perth are shooting!

    No carbonation in bottles.

My first home brew ever: Bottled the brew, put bottles in fridge, went on holiday for 4 weeks, returned to find no carbonation, scratched head, contemplated chucking all of it away, thought better of it, read about yeast activity at low temperatures, realised how little I knew about...

    No carbonation in bottles.

10c is too low for bottle conditioning over a 3 week period. For an ale, it's too low and you need to raise the temp otherwise you'll get zip carbonation. For a lager, it's an ok temperature but you've probably got such a little amount of yeast in suspension that it'll take another 3-6 weeks...

Direct is probably the best for me, seeing as I'd need domestic postage on top anyway once they arrived in Australia. Also agree with anyone who has said having a spare (or a few) is a good idea.

Maybe those interested just need to get in on a bulk buy of these: https://store.brewpi...erature-sensors And save you (Lael) the hassle and everyone else a delay in shipping. I'm still happy to get the probe coming in the Brauduino kit, as it gives the option to have one bulkheaded into a...

I'm a touch confused. Is there an option in the kit for the threaded temp probe for inline installation? Or is it simply what Lael has already advertised to us?
