Gordon Strong Recipe uses Orange Blossom Honey

There's a Gordon Strong IPA recipe I want to try that uses ~ 700g of Orange Blossom Honey (for a ~21L batch). It appears to be a bit difficult to get hold of and expensive. Anyone brewed with it? Just wondering whether I could just use normal honey instead and whether you think it would make...

Ideas for closed transfer from basic HDPE fermenter

Ah yes ok. I had the gas hooked up to the keg. I would think that might do this initially to remove O2 from the Keg then remove the disconnect? But yes, next time then, don't have the gas hooked up to CO2 and just leave the PRV open.

Ideas for closed transfer from basic HDPE fermenter

Could you elaborate on this please as I don't understand what you mean? I have the gas line/disconnect onto the gas post on the target keg and I have this at a low psi (~5 or so). I then (obviously) have the 'custom' line from the fermenter onto the beer 'in' line. So what do you mean 'put a gas...

Ideas for closed transfer from basic HDPE fermenter

I had a go with this. A butchered bottle filler with a 6mm line onto a disconnect. It worked but it was slow. Took a good 5 mins to transfer 7L. I had my hand on the PRV pulling it every 3 seconds or the CO2 was going to push the beer back out into the fermenter. Others have this experience...

AHB Articles: Fermenting Directly in the No-chill Cube

I was thinking if I start to do no chill for a few brews then I might as well leave it there and ferment in it as well. Cleaning the Krausen ring and so on would be a bit easier I think in with this wider opening. I didn’t check the inside to see the seams. I like the jerry can style as well...

AHB Articles: Fermenting Directly in the No-chill Cube

I'm in Bunnings and they have these drinking containers. I like the wide opening, easier to clean. You think these would take the hot temperatures?

    Odd fermentation... Advice

Yes, I understand the issue of refractometer measurements in fermenting wort. I interpolate. I'm getting to my FG just slowly, just never taken this long before and the yeast has normally settled out by now so that was what I found curious.

    Odd fermentation... Advice

Sorry, to answer your other questions... Sample is always taken from the bottom tap. Measurement via refractometer however the 1.019 measurement was with a hydro

    Odd fermentation... Advice

OG was 1.060. It was quite a bit of thick yeast slurry I used initially. It is a thick top layer, I was thinking it would be settling out by now. I did lose some yeast from the blow out but as the picture shows it looks like there's plenty left. The picture attached shows a sample of the beer...
