    KegLand Questions and Answers

Can someone confirm for me that the PBW is safe for use on PET fermenters? I assume that it is completely fine... but just in case.

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Very interesting reads. My main desire to pressurise is to reduce oxidation, not speed up the fermentation process. I've had a few heavily hopped beers turn to river water recently as my current process allows for a LOT of oxygen exposure. That said, it works perfectly fine for strong ales...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Thanks for the replies everyone, i've got a lot of tips now and the main conclusion i am getting is "give it a go and see what works for you". Will definitely be keeping an eye while cold crashing though, just in case i do get some collapse. Does anyone depressurise to add dry hops? Mainly...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

I was initially thinking i could build up enough pressure to counteract it, so that it wouldn't get to the stage of collapse, but i can see that might not be enough. I guess i could swap the spunding over for a co2 bottle and set the regulator pressure to whatever it was before (15psi etc)...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

I'm definitely more of an ale brewer than a lager brewer. My main priority for fermenting under pressure is to reduce oxygen exposure when i do more hop forward beers. So what i am thinking is.. using a blow-off for a few days and then capping (if i am using the right term... i just read all 34...

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Of course... it makes so much sense to make a blowoff tube using a gas disconnect . I watched a whole bunch of 'saurus and similar videos and never saw a blowoff tube being used when people had it in action.

    Fermenting Under Pressure

Morning everyone. I recently got a fermentasaurus snubnose that i plan to use on my next brew. How has everyone been fermenting under pressure using these units? Do you just chuck the yeast into the wort and then close it up? Do you add any CO2 once you close it, or add a spunding valve so it...

    Let's see your fermentation chambers!

Did a search, couldn't find any thread with a collection of peoples' fermentation chambers. Happy to be corrected and send this thread into the void. I am keen to see what people have for fermenting and temperature control. I had a secondhand fridge for a couple of years, but that one just...

KK - 'Fermentasaurus' conical PET fermenter

Does the snubnose come with handles for lifting? It looks like it has some in the KK videos, but not on the website. Just wondering how you'd go about shifting this when it's full of liquid. Especially if it were in a chest freezer fermentation chamber.

I'll say that i was very surprised as well, usually it works fine but this was some serious char. I'll try and grab some barkeepers then, thanks all.

Now, I know this has been discussed a few times. But what is the best way to clean a "stubborn" scorch on the bottom of the kettle? Had a difficult mash the other day due to (I assume) a large amount of oats. As a result I got a pretty big scorch on the bottom. I tried my usual cleaning...

    Keg King S/Steel Uni tank

In my own case, I've been trying to brew a good NEIPA for a while, as I have struggled to find good commercial/craft examples here in Australia (well, that I like and feel are true to style anyway but that is another rant). The oxidisation during fermentation/cold crash and transfer in my...

    Keg King S/Steel Uni tank

I emailed KK last week and they didn't have a timeframe on this new SS fermenter and as such couldn't give any info on the pressure kit :(. Thinking i might go the snubnose now though.. the price is definitely right and it comes with a pressure cap. Just doesn't have the traditional conical...

    Hop rhizomes

If anyone in Adelaide is interested i have some cascade, chinook, victoria and red earth that i'll need to dig up.

    Keg King S/Steel Uni tank

posting for interest. currently looking to upgrade from the classic plastic fermenters. From what i have seen these would be 30L? Tossing up between an SS brew bucket, a kegmenter or a fermentasurus. But this could definitely be a goer, especially if the pressure lid isn't too far off. Anyone...

    Kegging Setups

Hopefully this is the right thread.... Looking at moving from bottles to kegs. Been fine with bottles for years but lately my priming has been inconsistent for unknown reasons.... and i'm not sure if i cbf spending all that time bottling anymore. So i've done some very rough sums and for a 2...

I will report back my results. That recipe looks pretty good too, might have to give that a go. Had a six pack of fresh two hearted IPA last year and definitely keen to experience that again.

Never run it during the boil, but i have run it after the boil once the coil is doing it's work. I remember seeing that magical pancake fellow say that he runs his pump through the boil in an attempt to break the pump but he couldn't kill it.

Another very interesting response. I guess i could just give this a go, i had wondered how much abuse the pumps could take. What's the biggest hop addition youve done commando? Sadly i don't have a conical so i think i'm just gonna cold crash and hope for the best (never cold crashed anything...
