    KegLand Questions and Answers

@KegLand-com-au I was just looking at the instruction PDF for the soda water lid thing. On page 4, the pre-chill keg is shown as having 2 black/liquid ball lock disconnects. Does this mean you have to/should change the gas post to a liquid post? Or is the water in disconnect supposed to be a...

A suggestion for your next gen FC disconnects. Put a mark of some sort on the adjuster (on the top or on the side) so it's easier to tell how far it's been turned when adjusting it.

Style Recommendations : Interesting but Drinkable

Try something malt driven: Munich Helles, Scottish Heavy, Irish Red.... I've had many people be pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoy beers in the 15-25 IBU range (whether they know what an IBU is or not).

    Chilling the wort.

That's a good start. Hopefully you got your hopping times and rates correct too. I don't know what (if any) effect the increased gravity of the concentrated wort would have on hop utilisation.

    Chilling the wort.

Yes, but you have to work out the dilution rate and boil the wort down to a much lower volume. I've only ever known one person who brewed that way. 8-10 litres of wort at the end of the boil, then add ice to hit pitching temperature.

    Fermzilla

It's an unlisted video (click through to Youtube, it's noted under the title in small print), so the only way to find it is to be given the URL.

While I agree with you on that point, surely they could implement a system where the extra charge is added only if Afterpay is selected as a payment method. Same as a lot of places do if you try to pay with American Express.

Very limited market, and it would also be nigh on impossible to fit all that paraphernalia through the much smaller holes in the top of the 50L and mini kegs. Still as it's a continuous system, you could probably downsize to a corny and free up the 50L for beer! Unless you have some really...

Throttling flow by means other than the ball valve

Gate valves aren't designed to be used for throttling flow -- just on or off, like ball valves. Hence why I suggested a globe valve, which is designed for throttling flow. Sure they don't seal as well against pressure (hence in industry you will sometimes see separate shut-off and throttling...

Throttling flow by means other than the ball valve

Have you considered using a different type of valve that is designed for throttling? I use a globe valve for this purpose. Mine gives me 9+ turns of adjustment, although the recirc pump's maximum flow means there's no actual adjustment after a couple of turns. Looks like this...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

A $5 price difference is probably OK in most cases -- there will always be a small percentage who choose the absolute cheapest option. I'm not suggesting a tap be fitted, but the need to also purchase the syphon will add an extra cost to the final product which has to be considered. Overall I...

The big advantages of the HDPE fermenters have been cost, and simplicity of use. Tap, airlock, bottling wand and away you go. Gravity is free, and generally understood adequately to allow a task like bottling to occur. As the two kits on your website aren't comparable, I'd ask the question...
