    Fridge for sale. Gold coast.

Free small chest freezer Gold coast

Sorry I missed this. I think it will freeze. I've crash cooled no problem, and accidentally frozen a brew once. It easily fits a land cruiser, and not very big, so i imagine it would fit an average SUV. Only get two kegs in it I think.

Free small chest freezer Gold coast

Works fine, but beaten up a bit. Westinghouse I think. Inside all peeled and a bit rusty. Top dented and scratched. Needs clean. Good for fermentation chamber. Need gone this weekend or it's going to the tip

Can you get tannins from recycling wort, or just sparging?

I'll do that thanks. I don't have room, but I can just top up after the mash instead of sparging.

Can you get tannins from recycling wort, or just sparging?

When it's gone over 90 minutes it's been for convenience. I think I'll stop sparging for a while then, and hope it gets better. Does the speed of water flow through the grain bed when recirculating make any difference? I aim to keep the water a couple of inches higher in the malt pipe which is...

Can you get tannins from recycling wort, or just sparging?

My last couple or batches have had a weird off flavour that I've narrowed down to tannis. One was a bit lemony, slightly acid and made the tongue dry like a red wine. The next had more crystal in which covered the lemony taste, but was also a but muddy tasting and made me mouth a bit dry. I'm...

    Bad tasting yeast starter

Well I pitched dry yeast, but I kept the starter and it now tastes much better, more like green stout. I'll let it be for a week and see how it goes.

    Bad tasting yeast starter

Thanks guys, I'll bin it. I've just tasted it again, and it's also astringent. It tastes that bad you could only spit it out.

    Bad tasting yeast starter

It also tastes quite sweet, but there's a thick layer of yeast at the bottom.

    Bad tasting yeast starter

I always taste my starters, and normally they just taste flat and beery. This starter tastes like the worst home brew twang you can imagine. Kind of plasticy. It's not like what I would consider to be an infection taste though. It's made from kettle trub. Beer is a partial mash stout, with...

Does priming sugar reduce chances of oxidation?

It makes sense doesn't it. It would seem to follow that if yeast protects wort from oxidation it should protect beer too, especially seeing as the oxygen caused by transfer would be so much lower - or is that over simplistic?
