Post Boil Hops - All the hops!

So, here's my query. Could you create, boil and no chill your wort without adding any hop additions. Let's say the wort is a high grav than you need. Then, could you boil your hops in plain water for the correct time, bottle that and sterilize the bottle, then add it when you need it (ie at the...

    Whitbread Ale Wyeast 1099?

Holy thread resurrection! I've got an ESB going on this yeast at the moment, been chugging for about 7 days. OG was fairly low - about 1.042, so was expecting a fairly quick finish, but currently sitting at about 1.020. No flocculation yet, and seems happy enough (lots of yeast in suspension)...

    Is this normal

I love how the AHB crowd always looks after newbies (brewbies?). Warms the cockles it does.

    Happiness is...

Yes, no good. It has the compressor in a hump at the bottom, and the way the door is molded also gets in the way. No worries though, I'll just start brewing 9 litre batches and increase the turnover.

Ballarat Beer Festival 2014 - SAVE THE DATE

OK, fair points all zeggie - as Yob points out, it was my experience not his, or yours and obviously some bad planning on my part stuffed it a bit for me. Glad to hear there was indeed brewer's talks - and I did hit the marquee often. Change one or two factors in my control, I probably would...

Ballarat Beer Festival 2014 - SAVE THE DATE

No, my being a ****-head and forgetting hat, sunscreen and water was all on me, not blaming the organisers for my stupidity. Rushed out the door, the four year old needed sorting out at Nan's, weather was cool and overcast, and yeah, I made some silly choices. We all do it sometimes. But where...

Ballarat Beer Festival 2014 - SAVE THE DATE

At B'rat it's $2 a token (minimum purchase of 10), which at 100ml tastes is $20 per litre (or $15 at Geelong for the $1.50 tokens) - and yeah, that's not even outrageous, I'd pay that happily.to get the variety you get at these things. But $50 just to walk in? Suddenly you're up to $70 for your...
