    Looking for ESB yeast

WLP-002 and S-04 have been described as being the same yeast. Some people say they are the same. Might see if you can find it. It works well in my British style ales. MO

    Woolies draught 23l kit

You stir it adequately? The heavier wort or extract will sit on the bottom of the fermenter unless it is stirred in very well. If "woolies" means Woolworth's that is one cheap kit! MO

How much do you leave in your boil kettle?

On a three gallon batch probably a cup stays in the kettle. I don't stress on break and some hop debris in my fermenter. MO

Recipedb - Coopers Pale Ale Clone

Bottled this up today. Made 3.5 U.S. gallons. OG 1.046. FG 1.006. I think the color is a little dark for a clone. ABV is a bit high too at 5.25%. Used a 1/2 pound of malt I toasted in the oven for 10 minutes at 350F. Think I got the "toasted" flavor I was looking for. Only had a few teaspoons...

    Dry Yeast

You could make a starter and step up your yeast. My opinion, and mine only, is if I want more yeast to pitch more batches I just repitch slurry. You'll have to make a huge starter wort. Even if a gallon you're pitching five times the needed yeast. That wont take long and they won't multiply...

    Dry Yeast

I'll say this knowing there will be loud condemnation. It works well for me and, well, I really don't care what people think. Save some slurry and repitch. It's good for at least a month and starts quick. I've repitched slurry two months old and it's been fine. I've pitched out to four...

    Stinky no chill cube.

My brew buckets all smell like hops. Doesn't seem to affect the flavor of anything I put in them. MO

    Getting Beer Out!

Bottling may be your best and easiest option. Figure out how long your CO2 will last then bottle the rest. Yeah, you'll have to buy some bottles and caps and a capper but they will last. Will be a big job but it will see you through. MO

    Boiling wort.

Everyone's process is different. I believe the Cooper's kit are generally no boil. Add hot water to the can contents in the fermenter, add sugar to dissolve, top up to recommended volume. If I was doing a partial mash I would sparge enough to collect about five liters of wort. I would then...

Whats cheap and simple enough for a Coopers kit?

From what I've read their stout is one of their best kits. MO

Recipedb - Coopers Pale Ale Clone

I haven't had a mass market (Bud, Miller, Coor's) US beer in at least ten years, probably longer. Figured this had to be a fairly simple grain bill. That roasted, toasted flavor is pretty pronounced though, to me at least.

Recipedb - Coopers Pale Ale Clone

Got a six pack of Cooper's Pale Ale locally. Has a "Best After" date of 13 December 2019. Paid USD $13.50 for it. Much better beer than any Bud, Miller, Coor's product I ever had. Made a starter and pitched the yeast from a couple bottles. It's alive and growing! Never had a Cooper's Pale Ale...

What are you brewing 2020 and 2021 ?

Going to try a Cooper's Pale Ale Clone next week. Never had one but I have the ingredients. MO ETA: Just found a local shop with this in stock. I can get the real yeast!

last bottles of the batch tasted the best

That's the way it usually works. Time does wonderful things to beer, within reason. Next time make two batches so you have some to age. All the Best, D. White

    Water profiling question - Magnesium

As a general rule I put 1/4 teaspoon of epsom salts in every batch I make, usually three gallons. MaggieO

Coopers Best Extra Stout - Stuck Fermentation or Complete?

It's probably done. Bottle it but keep an eye on them, with safety glasses! You're probably fine though.

Recipedb - Coopers Pale Ale Clone

Got my Cooper's yeast and PoR hops today. Now to find some time to brew. All the Best, D. White

Recipedb - Coopers Pale Ale Clone

Ordered some Cooper's dried yeast and some Pow hops. Going to give this a try. Can't seems to find Cooper's anywhere in the area. Just going to dive in blind! Is the Cooper's Australian Pale Ale canned kit similar to the Cooper's Pale Ale canned product. Was thinking of giving it a try but...

    Grain Bill Question

95% two row, 5% crystal 60. 25 ibu of Cascade or the like, one addition 60 minutes before end of boil. Simple and makes a good, basic pale ale. MaggieO
