Carp herpesvirus? But if they don't use toilet seats, how they gonna explain it to the missus?

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

Bet you that 15A extension lead has the same diameter copper as a 10A lead. Most likely 1.75mm2 (flex copper has more strands and can therefore handle slightly more current due to an effect called electron fleecing whereby the electrons have a tendency to flow around the outside of a conductor)...

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

No way you can make recommendations without knowledge of the installation. There's no way of knowing what cable is in use or how it's ran or whose worked on it previously. That advice is unsafe. If the op draws 20A through 15A fuse wire it will eventually blow. Same as if the op comes comes in...

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

Be aware that if your power circuit is on one of those rewirable ceramic fuses as detailed in one of your other threads, it might not be using the right current rated fuse wire. Very common practice for tenants to up the wire size to 'fix' blowing fuses. Do yourself a favour and get some more...

    Keg King element wiring etc.

What's the rating of your main switch? Do you only have one power circuit?

    Brew Food Utensils

This one set me back a couple of hundred with 10% off through paypal. A bit pricey but I've held off on a good chef's knife for too long and don't regret it. There are a lot of less expensive options but TBH, nothing looks quite so distinctive. Also, a 15hr shift at double bubble made it all too...

    Brew Food Utensils

Well, four years later and I finally dropped the coin on a Shun. Man, this thing is sharp. The handle is ambidextrous so no lefty woes there. It's the Kiritsuke model so the belly is not as deep as some of the other models and the steel slightly harder than the classics. Very happy with it and...

    PID Programming Problem

Just to clarify, 0 is not meaningless. It will pause and maintain the programmed step. Perfect for holding mash out temps until you finish mowing the lawn.

    What's wrong with this picture?

A tapered male thread doesn't need a tapered female thread to seal. It will seal into a parallel thread via an interference fit. But selling a tapered thread thermowell as a weldless fitting is pretty ******. I'm pretty sure I've had to do the same on my rig. Open up the washer to fit the...

Looking for pointers re; control box build

I'd recommend you make use of relays or preferably contactors (generally higher current ratings) for a few reasons. One reason is for safety - if you run an ELV (ie 24v) control circuit you reduce the hazard of having LV touch potential in a switch likely to be handled in a wet area. Even using...

Continuing Rant Thread - Get it Off Ya Chest here

Gotta say, the last time I was so perturbed about the lack of a period was about twenty years ago when I invested in cheap prophylactics.

Chris Cornell RIP... say it aint so !

Sounds like it might be true. Damn. This guy's talent helped define 90's music for me not to mention what he achieved with Audioslave. I starting to believe that God is collecting music legends for some kind of Biblical Rock Eisteddfod.

Why did this element burn out?

The element is a resistive load so polarity won't matter. Correct cable identification is important from a safety perspective but having another look at your pic I notice the red is already disconnected so my earlier assumption is probably incorrect. The connections in the plug top would confirm...

Why did this element burn out?

I reckon you're on the right track MHB and from what I can gather it's not so much a case of incorrect polarity but incorrect colour coding. It looks as though the active is wired in black. I wonder if this was wired in the states which might explain the use of black as an active colour but...

    SS Brewbucket Dumbarse?

As above, rarely use the pick up tube. With a bit of patience I can get the o rings to drop in but if the tube becomes misaligned with the tap it's a guessing game when draining the fermenter as to where it sits. I haven't had dramas with the inner o ring but the outer would leak when pivoting...
