    Caterpillars on Hops Plants

Some are contact (affect only the area applied) and some are systemic (are adsorbed into the tissue and move about the plant on their own). Good to know which one you are using.

    Caterpillars on Hops Plants

Quite a few insecticides for controlling caterpillars available at local supermarket / nursery / bunnings etc. Few (if any) registered for use in hops, but most will work. Use at your own risk. edit: For example I use Yates tomato and vegetable dust to successfully control caterpillars in my...

    Mill Motors

Great potential going to waste there. ... At the very least you are using a bicycle powered dynamo to charge your soft battery powered equipment? edit: Just saw your amended post , that's more like it!! Whack that power in some batteries and power your mill.

Show me your Mini Mill setup

WEAL was extremely kind to donate a used mill to me recently. My slightly Ghetto (okay very ghetto) solution .. is to mount it on a plastic chopping board from Kmart ($5) - with a suitably sized rectangular hole cut into the middle of it.

Gas burner capacity for 5L batches

You could easily boil 4 x 5L pots on a normal stove-top. A multiple bay "bain marie" would be ideal for small multiple mashes if you could pick one up cheap. .. .

    Haze

Do you let the temp come up a bit towards the end of fermentation? This will encourage the yeast to finish the job and clear things up up a bit. After about two weeks controlled temp I let the fermenter sit at room temp for a day or so... Clears it up.

I don't mind cloudy beer, in fact it's quite nice thinking about all the nutritious goodies in there. Having said that, usually if I bottle a few keepers from a cloudy keg and pull them out 6 months later for a taste - they are often very quite clear indeed.
