    September Meet 17/09

Our water tank is under repair - the quoted timeline for repair is "about 3 weeks". :( I can put my hand up for the meeting, but only if our tank is done, and water can be delivered before the meet. The issue is that sometimes it's not possible to have water delivered in a timely manner, and...

    Another disappointing beer.

Yeah, these were my thoughts too. From what I've read, most yeast-generated flavours are created early in the fermentation, so if the temperature rises up later in the timeline, it's not so big of an problem.

    August Meet 20/08

Ok, I will be coming too. I do have a bit of a cold though. I will bring my new & shiny grain mill, and some pale malt to play with. Maybe someone who has used one before, can give us a bit of demo on how to use it. Also, a Swiss guy told me that Aldi sells bake-at-home bretzels that are...

    Where to get bulk grains?

I've just got myself a mill, and as a secondary question: What malts do you keep "in stock" in your brew house ? Oh - and what do you store the malt in? What sized bucket can handle 25kg of malt ?

Yet another Arduino Based Brewing controller

Exactly what sort of power supply are you using? I don't get these sort of issues, the supply I use is a little one for powering LED light strings (AFAIK - that's what the ad said). It looks like a mini-PC power supply.

Yet another Arduino Based Brewing controller

I've not used windows 10 with arduino. Ok you got the #1 cause - the "Selected Board" in the IDE. From what I've read, there are 2x USB drivers - one for genuine Arduino, and one for clone boards. The "CH340" driver is for for clone boards - you have a clone board right? There is an excellent...

    October Theme Meet: Oktoberfest 15/10

My munich dunkel turned out really well. Maybe one of the best beers I've ever made. Was it the 9 week lagering? Or perhaps the fermentasaurus? Who knows! It's very pleasing nonetheless. I seriously think I'm gonna go for a hefe, but the keg of stout blew last weekend: No stout - a...

So, I have all this yeast.. now what?

I have to answer your question with a question: What do you plan to do with the yeast? Right now you can just remove and cap that yeast (with a sanitised cap), and put it in your fridge. If you want to save and/or split the yeast - search on this forum for "Yeast Washing", there's a huge...

EOI 4x People for Siebel Sensory Training Kit

What's the score with this? Do we still need a couple of slots filled? I can probably phone-a-friend if we're short one.

    October Theme Meet: Oktoberfest 15/10

I was thinking of having a crack a Munich Helles, or a 'Fest Bier. I'm not a huge fan of pale lagers though... but summer is coming. Guess I could go a hefe.

My Munich Dunkel just finished lagering, but there may not be any left by October ;)

herm-it element enclosure - how do I make one?

I made one out of a stainless steel pot. Buy your element, then goto a kitchen supplies store. Find a pot that is big enough to take the element and whatever Hx coll you want to use. I used a herm-it coil with a flat-spiralled element (like a stove hot-plate) so the element sits just beneath...

New Manifold - do I need to change PSI?

Once you have it plumbed to gas, you should also check it for leaks. I had some gas escaping around where the tap screws into the aluminium.

A quick survery for those who have never entered a homebrew comp

The logistics of getting my beer there is always the biggest issue. For the NSW state comp' I could take my beer to the LHBS who sent a bunch of them. If it wasn't for this I would not have entered at all.

Where to buy curly beer line?

So my valpar line is 5mm ID, thus aim for >= 100mm diameter curls? I'm going to have a go at this on the weekend. Sounds cool.

Where to buy curly beer line?

Mark I tried this over the weekend. But when I added the hot water, the mandrill got angry. Please advise. (My deepest apologies got being off-topic, but i genuinely thought this was a funny and worthwhile post.)
