    Rats eating the grain

Traps will account for the occasional mouse/rat, but require constant checking/resetting, also rats are smart and can learn from each other, so if you have an infestation sooner or later they learn to avoid them. ,This time of year (Autumn) they move in looking for somewhere warm, I use bait...

KegMaster XL vs Series-X - Which one is better?

When drilling holes in any fridge/freezer: ALWAYS!!! make a hole in the plastic inside the appliance first (a soldering iron works well) Dig out the insulation so you have a clear view of the outside shell, then drill from the inside to the outside.

KegMaster XL vs Series-X - Which one is better?

Just do a search on this site, it's all been covered. Short answer: just buy a converted fridge.

    $12 Schooners

Clubs can subsidise their meals/drinks from pokies earnings, and probably own the building and land. Brew pubs probably don't have pokies and almost never own the premises so the rent comes into play, and inner city prices are ridiculous. My local (country) brewpub charges $8 or $9 (depending on...

KegMaster XL vs Series-X - Which one is better?

Consensus seems to be that kegerators in general are noisier than a domestic fridge, plenty of posts here regarding "gurgling" and noisy fans, also first pours tend to be fobby due to the taps not being chilled, building your own is my preferred option but it's not for everyone.

    RAPT fridge...I bought 1....Review

I'm not sure why you choose now to reply to a comment made well over a year ago, unless it's just an excuse to spruik the virtues of the G1.1 somewhere other than in your own thread. Take a look at #88: "Honestly, you guys single handedly changed the face of home brewing here in Australia...

    RAPT fridge...I bought 1....Review

Font? The thread is about fermentation chambers and air circulation. If you are referring to a kegerator then that's a whole different conversation, you cannot cool a standard font with air (despite what retailers claim) air needs to circulate (which is why your household air con has an "air...

Corny keg beer out disconnect fittings

Spot on, QC is the problem, BUT! so far the assumption appears to be the disconnects are at fault, but what about the posts? Are your kegs old pepsi/coke or the $99 shiny new chinese ones, if the latter then chances are the posts may be to blame, if the former then just get some DECENT...

    "Best Before" date

Mi save gut. Unfortunately 1975 represented down elevator, it's been in a nose dive ever since, and continues unabated, 2004 (when I arrived) wasn't great but being an ex London publican, and used to "not particularly civilised" I found the freedom from our nanny state bloody marvelous...

    "Best Before" date

@ yank In 2004 the beer was "brown bottle" /South Pacific, later on they introduced Export, which didn't really catch on as it was marketed as a premium beer and cost more. The main claim to fame is the brown bottle was drinkable at tropical temp's, not great but drinkable. The brewery is in...

    "Best Before" date

A best before just means that after X amount of time it's still, harmless/efficacious/palatable. Let's take a drug, any drug, the authorities test the drug for how many yrs? Let's say 10yrs, after which the efficacy is 85% as opposed to 90% at day one, their cut off is actually 80%, do they hold...

    Fridge penetration

Be careful, if you have a butter compartment in the door it will have a small heater in it to keep the butter "spreadable" and therefore "wires"

    Fridge penetration

Using a soldering iron, melt the plastic inside the fridge where you want the hole to be, carefully dig out the foam insulation checking for pipes and wires, then just drill from the inside out.
