Will be tweaking it slightly as couldnt get all the exact same ingredients without ordering from 3 different shops so substituted them for others from my local brew store. will be kegging most of...

    First Hefe attempt

Thanks for all the info. Im thinking I will rwduce my temps a few degrees and extend my hop boil say 20g over 60min. I dont want too much bitterness or hop flavor in this one. I saw that pale is the way to go with wheat for this one however decided on munich just for my own spin on things. I...

    First Hefe attempt

After having my first child and moving house over the past 6 months I have found little time for brewing. Now I have settled in however I have managed to put 2 simple brews together to get back into things. I have decided my next brew will be a BIAB hefeweizen. Im making the recipe off the top...

    First AG pilsner recipe.

Beersmith says up to 40% for carapils.. I have a pale ale recipe which calls for 1kg of it but due to style it would suit. For the pilsner i will reduce it. Thanks for the yeast info thats good to know.

    First AG pilsner recipe.

Unfortunately im working 12 hour days which make it hard. Have the air con in the brewing room which I had running 24/7 last time. Done well to keep it nice and cool. Just kills the electricity bill. Figured I can save money by not using it to get a second fridge freezer. Might give the towel...

    First AG pilsner recipe.

The carapils was my main concern. So thanks for confirming my thoughts on that. Temp where I brew sits about 22 to 24 degrees so thought the ale yeast will be better suited until winter/cooler weather hits. Need to invest in a second fridge or chest freezer for fermentation control but with a...

    First AG pilsner recipe.

Gday all. Having been so impressed with my partial grain pilsner ive decided to go an AG biab for my next brew. Im winging it with the ricipe and dont know how it will turn out but thats the fun of learning imo. Im sticking with what I have chosen so I know what things do and what to change...

    First partial, no going back.

So have been considering getting into BIAB all grain brewing for a while now but have been hesitant as it seems a big step from most of the simple concentrate kits i do. After playing around with grains and hops in a few of these brews I finally decided to take the next step by way of a half...

    Consistently high FG

Just due to the general idea i have picked up from reading is anything above 1010 is high. A lot of the recipes tried all call for a FG of about 1008. I used to always hit around this mark. Its not really an issue, as i said the beer has been fine. Im more wanting to know why its not getting as...

    Consistently high FG

As a side note i will be re testing my hydrometer when i get home as i realize i have not checked its accuracy in water for a while,

    Consistently high FG

Hi guys, just a quick question. My last few brews no matter what the OG is have all finished with an FG of 1010 to 1014. I know these are still low enough to work with but i would still like to be hitting at least the 1008 mark. Is there anything I can do to assist this? The brews have been a...

    Wetpac recipe. Any advice?

Yeah I read that afterwards :S thanks for the advice though. It wasnt the grain itself I was just lazy with my writing and didnt specify it was the liquid from steeping it.

I made a pilsner and bitter both from kits. The pilsner was the first in several years and was surprisingly not bad. The last I put down was an IPA which I experimented with hops with. It should be carbonated by tonight so cant wait to try it.

    Wetpac recipe. Any advice?

Hi all. Am only relatively new to brewing despite having owned a kit for 10 years. Have made 3 beers the last 3 months to get back into with the last being a malt extract IPA kit. I followed the basic instructions supplied by boiling for 60min and adding steeped grain towards the end. Where I...
