    2nd Fermentation In The Fermenter...

The EB kegs were just a big tin can with a tap at the bottom. I don't want to brew in one - I am just wondering what the difference would be when pouring the beer? As far as I can see, the just pour the beer into these drums and sealed them up, then you put the tap into the bottom and poured the...

    2nd Fermentation In The Fermenter...

I haven't got an answer about the EB kegs. They were not pressurised, so why could't I just take the pressure out before pouring? I know it would go flat, but the idea was to drink it in one sitting... And no, I haven't tried to be tough on the internet. I wouldn't call someone a wanker unless...

    2nd Fermentation In The Fermenter...

Mate, I already said I'm not going to try it. I asked a couple more questions to try and get my head around it. Maybe you guys have forgotten the purpose of a forum? PS - don't try and get tough over the internet mate - just makes you look weak.

    2nd Fermentation In The Fermenter...

Thanks for all the advice guys. Still a couple of questions (even though you have already talked me out of trying this!) 1. Why would the pressure be too much for the fermenter? I can't see the difference to doing the second fermintation in a PET bottle compared to the fermenter - it's just...

    2nd Fermentation In The Fermenter...

Its not for a wedding or anything fancy - I just though of it when I was thinking about having a BBQ with mates on Australia Day and how good it would be to drink from the keg... How do the plastic bottles go when people use them to bottle their brews (I use glass). Do they have a limited life...

    2nd Fermentation In The Fermenter...

Hi all, Would I be able to do the second fermintation in the fermenter by dropping in the right rate of carbination drops and sealing it all up? My idea is then to use it as a keg at a party or something? Please let me know if I am on the wrong track here... Cheers

    Fermenting In Beer Can Fridge

I think it has a real fridge unit in there because it can freeze when turned right up. What sort of time should I put on the timer?

    Fermenting In Beer Can Fridge

Hi All, I live in country WA and we haven't had a day under 38 for a while and that doesn't look like changing. It is a nice 44 today so it's not the best brewing weather.. I have one of those beer can fridges (they usually look like a giant beer can or have footy team logos on them - see...

    Storing Grain In The Shed

Yeah, your right, it will keep old bugs in and new ones out. It all depends on how much headspace is in the bin, that is how much of the bin is grain, and how much is just air. If it is a 100L bin with 500g of barley, then yeah, kiss it goodbye (should of just kept it in the fridge). If the bin...

    Storing Grain In The Shed

Putting CO2 in there will work the same as simply having it airtight (it deprives whatever wants to be in there of oxygen). Pressurising it is not a great idea for a couple of reasons. The main reason is that CO2 itself doesn't kill bugs like phosphine or methal bromide, it just means the more...

    Storing Grain In The Shed

As long as it is air-tight, you won't have a problem, bugs need oxygen to survive and if there is any in there, they will soon die. Even if you inspect regularly, the chances are that you won't see them unless they are really bad. With the technology we have, there has to be more than 300 bugs...

    Storing Grain In The Shed

A dark place as in not in direct sunlight, just to keep the temp down. Sunlight itself will not hurt the grain, but the heat can provide a good breeding ground for moulds and insects. So, the plastic doesnt make a difference, just the heat itself.

    Storing Grain In The Shed

Hey, guys - I'm new here and new to brewing. I am in the grain handling business, so I know a bit about this (but bugger all about brewing!) If it is in a air-tight container, you should have no worries. Grain insects and moulds need and thrive in high temps, moisture and require oxygen. Air...
