    Canned Beer 'Revolution'

You've never heard anybody say coke tastes nicer from the glass bottle? Really? I've heard heaps of people say that!

    Fruits of my labours...

I have a previous engagement this afternoon, but we should definitely do that! I'd love to have you over for a cold one, and it would be good to get some feedback/critique from you!

    Fruits of my labours...

Absolutely drinking them! Having a couple after work most days, and of course a bit more than that on the weekends! I've just been brewing more than i can drink lately! Have noticed my IPA has settled down a lot over the last couple of weeks, the Chinook is fading a bit but it's tasting more...

    Fruits of my labours...

Well, I've had a constant fermenter (or two) going since April. Still getting good ferment temps in my apartment so i haven't stopped yet. Pretty stoked with this cupboard - just wanted to share! Contains a stout, three pale ale variations, an apple and pear cider, IPA, Real Ale, and a...

    help, brew started bubbling again

Somebody will correct me if i'm wrong - but i think the spin is just to dislodge any bubbles from holding the hydrometer up. Tap water isn't carbed, so you wouldn't need to do this i don't think.

    help, brew started bubbling again

Hmm. 1054 does seem really high for a standard kit type brew. Are you sure it's at 23 litres? I think my last IPA was only just around that mark and it was a 20l batch with a kilo of dry malt and half a kilo of dextrose! My hydrometer reads 0.992 tap water @20˚C, so i know to always add .08 to...

    Coopers Mister Sinister

Isn't 14˚ a little cold for ale yeast? EDIT - i'm an idiot. Ignore everything i say :beerbang:

    Coopers Tin Brews experimented with?

I've had some success with honey substitutions. It did seem to add some residual honey flavours. All in all, i didn't find it interesting enough to justify the added cost compared to dextrose or light dry malt... Hop additions on another hand, are pretty cheap and will give you some really good...

Grolsh style bottles - flat beer in fridge.

Yeah that's what i was thinking too. I do have a pack of new seals i bought for some real grolsch bottles, i might throw them on them if i use 'em again!

Grolsh style bottles - flat beer in fridge.

Great! I'm glad it's not just something that's happening to me! Yeah i only use them as a last resort, when i'm low on bottles :)

    G'day from Coffs Harbour

Woah, totally forgot about this thread! Been absent from the forum for a couple weeks. Thanks for the invite Matt, i will be sure to pop in and check out the store. I didn't realise you'd opened yet! I think i'm out of town next weekend for the AG demo, which totally bums me out! Not at all...

    Thank you so much...

I agree. It's kind of funny, you look so closely at your wallet walking out of Dan's with a carton each week - but $100 bucks at the local home brew store doesn't seem to set off the alarm bells. For me anyway. I've brewed so many batches this autumn/winter... Way more than i can drink! I...

Grolsh style bottles - flat beer in fridge.

Hey guys, So i've been experiencing something weird with a stout i brewed and used some grolsh style bottles. If i leave them in the fridge for a couple days, the beer opens flat! I cracked one straight out of the cupboard the other day and it had a great pop and carbonation. I'm 100% sure i...

I think i might have fluked a Blanche De Namur!

Well, a while ago i purchased one of those Thomas Coopers Selection Pilsner kits by mistake and it's been sitting here for a while, so a couple weeks ago i just thought i'd have a bit of fun with it and use up some older hops etc.... Now keep in mind that i just took a stab in the dark here. I...

How to get mates to pay

I guess it really depends on how much they're drinking... I'm happy to share a few brews with some mates, but i'm not happy to shout a free night's session under most circumstances! Then again that said, maybe you could go about it with a bit more subtlety and ask them to grab a couple of...

    Excited for toucan stout brew!

Hey all. Well an update to this one. Been bottled for a couple of weeks, just tried one. It's very nice!!! Smooth, roasty flavours. Slight coffee hint. Had a good initial head, has faded now about halfway through... Leaving some lacing behind. My only complaint - doesn't seem "thick"...

    Recommend me a commercial porter?

Well, i've had Tooheys Old quite a few times, so i guess i have actually tried a porter! Just didn't know what i was drinking... Sometimes if i'm having a night of it, i'll break up every few Coopers Pale schooners with an Old... Kind of a palate thing i think.
