    Minco RTD query

Hi All, I have just been given some RTD's from work, http://www.minco.com/Sensors-and-Instruments/Products/~/media/WWW/Resource%20Library/SensorsCatalogPages/Probe_FastResponse.ashx (ones on the first page) They are only 2 wire ones. Will they work with my PID (sestos)? Also the cable to...

Difference between PT100 probe & thermocouple

Just for the viewers at home- after I ordered the Auber probes, I had a look on Aliexpress and was kicking myself as i found what looked like the Auber probes. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/SS316-beer-brewing-liguid-temperature-sensor-with-1-2-BSP-thread/1653180771.html until I read "Class B...

Difference between PT100 probe & thermocouple

Hi all, I have been getting some great advice on this forum, hopefully someone might be able to answer yet another question. I have recently purchased a few of the Sensos brand PID. (thanks QldKev, would have bought the wrong model if not for your advice). Now i'm on the hunt for a probe...

Would this work as a PID for brewing

I'm similar to you, but oppposite. Lol. I'll not grab something, then in 6months time regret it. I only gave him 20 or so of my beers, so cost less than a sixer. Ended up ordering the Sensos ones QldKev posted about.

Would this work as a PID for brewing

I reckon i'm going to go the D1S-VR-220 route, the Shinko ones will probably be too complicated for me to use. Lol. I've grabbed them anyway, just a carton of beer to the boss. If you know anyone who might put them to good use, let me know.

HERMS unit not heating quick enough

ohhh ok, so if i just add a t piece with a thermowell where the wort returns to the mashtun, i can control it that way. When i start recirculating just move the probe to the other thermowell. If your trying to raise the mashtun to 66deg, would you set the controller to 66 or higher? (that is if...

Would this work as a PID for brewing

Yeah i have been eyeing up those Sestos ones, they look very nice and would do exactly what i need. There seems to be a few on ebay and aliexpress, but the differ, like voltages etc. I presume I would want one like this...

HERMS unit not heating quick enough

Thanks Dent, sorry for more questions, trying to wrap my head around this. How would the time reduce by changing the HX size? if a 50ltr tank is at 70deg and a 1.7ltr HERM-It at 70deg wouldn't it take just as long to heat the mashtun wort? what is the temp people set their HX to raise the...

HERMS unit not heating quick enough

I have an urn that i replace the HLT water with, which is set to 70odd, so the 2 elements are just to maintain temps and raise a few deg here and there. The issue I had was the sparge / hx water in the HLT was at the right temp, but it took ages for the mashtun to raise 6degree's. Just for a...

HERMS unit not heating quick enough

It would be over a metre. the wort seems hotter out of it, i'm in the process of adding a thermometer in a T piece just to check.

HERMS unit not heating quick enough

Hi all, How can I get my mash tun to heat quicker? I have a 50ltr HLT with a herms coil in it, with 2 x 2000w elements. my Mash tun is an un-insulated (soon to be insulated with a special foam from the misses' work) 70ltr stainless pot. I did a brew the other day, and for some reason (me) I...
