    Metallic tang in my brew

I think you guys are right, the appearence of the metallic taste coincides with when I got the new fittings... well that sucks because I've just brewed again today and its on the boil now, oh well... Having said that the taste doesn't come through till after it ferments, tastes fine going into...

    Metallic tang in my brew

Nah not the same, much stronger. water here is pretty good but I have just recently bought and am using some new camlock fittings... (from china)... I thought i washed and sanitised them pretty well but could they be the problem?

    Metallic tang in my brew

Pretty sure I've copped an infection here... Brewed a brow porter a few weeks ago and when i bottled it it had a strong metallic tang to it, didnt think much of it at first but 3 weeks on and the taste is still there. Brewed an IPA soon after and bottled it today, smelt and tasted fantastic...

    O2-ing my wort

Anyone thought of just adapting a blowtorch with some tubing and a Ss airstone just screwed onto a benzo disposable O2 bottle?

    O2-ing my wort

After some advice on getting the right gear to give my wort a nice O2 injection prior to pitching. I want to get serious with my lagers and this seems like the next step for me.

    crush gap

See now that's what I'm after, some originality. Haha nice gauge mate.

    crush gap

Other factors aside, I am just curious to see if anyone also has a 'go to' crush gap for their system. Mine is 0.8mm on my 3v with the kk mill.

    crush gap

Haha some of my best beers have come from this method

    crush gap

Should have specified, I use the keg king mill too (cheap+works well) but I measure the gap with feeler gauges, it's more accurate than relying on their increments.

    crush gap

I found once i went into the 1mm+ range my efficiency started to suffer, not dramatically though. I reckon I've found my sweet spot at 0.8 as long as I'm sparging at a rate to suit.

Who uses a mobile tablet for brewing?

I use beersmith on my ipad for brew day, awesome app. The pc version obviously has more content but once the recipe is created and on the cloud I open that bad boy on the pad and hook in.

    crush gap

Yeah good call, be interesting to see if the BIABers out there use a finer crush to up the efficiency given that stuck spares aren't an issue.
  18. _Mick_

    crush gap

Around 80% if anyone was wondering

    crush gap

Just curious to see what different people set their mill to when crushing. I've been playing around with mine a bit lately ranging from 0.5-1mm finding a good comprises between efficiency and filtration at about 0.8mm Cheers Mick
