    Pale/bright ale - which hop?

Hey Fad, I used this schedule earlier this year for a lawnmower pale ale which came out a treat: 30g Centennial @ 30 minutes 15g Nelson Sauvin @ 10 minutes 20g Nelson Sauvin @ 0 min (30 min steep) 25g Nelson Sauvin dry hop

    The Yeast Bay strains

OK, so the funktown had been sitting at 1006 for 6 days so last night I went to bottle it, took a gravity reading beforehand and now it is down to 1004  I will give it until the weekend to see if it moves again before I bottle it, which will make it a total of 4 weeks in the FV. I'll...

    Rye wheat hops

Your base will look something like this which is similar to a fresh work kit from All Inn Brewing I'm hoping to ferment soon: Pale 60% Wheat 25% Rye 10% Crystal 5% With their recipe they've bittered with Mosaic to 70 IBU and suggested a big hit of Centennial for the dry hop. You can tone...

    The Yeast Bay strains

Thanks MJE. I used belle saison once and I gave that about 3 weeks in the primary to make sure she was all finished up before bottling so I'll take the same care (or more) with Funktown. Pitched 1 vial (no starter) into a 20lt 1052 wort on Saturday afternoon. After about 28 hours there was a...

    The Yeast Bay strains

Hey everyone, novice brewer here. Today I'm gonna chuck a pale ale wort kit in the fermenter with some extra wheat malt, dex & a vial of Funktown yeast. 19lt batch but it won't be a super high gravity brew. Will dry hop with galaxy & citra. My question is about bottle priming because I don't...

    What's your favourite kit manufacturer?

I agree with grott in that Coopers have a great range and the price can't be beaten. Easy to get a hold of too. Plus there is heaps of recipes online to load them up. I used a Morgans Amber ale kit once for a LC Rogers clone & it turned out pretty good. I wonder how many of the Aussie brands...

What kit goes with wyeast 1214?

Here's a kit recipe from Cooper's for a Belgian Dark Strong Ale which would suit the Belgian Abbey 1214 yeast. http://www.coopers.com.au/#/diy-beer/beer-recipes/strong/detail/rad-abbot-dark-ale/ The Wyeast website says that 1214 is suited for making a Christmas/Winter Spiced Specialty Ale too...

    Mangrove jacks cider

I bought one of these kits on Friday which I am gonna brew for the missus too. Earlier this yeah I had a dry hopped cider from 'The Hills Cider Company' and man it was tasty. I found out what hops they used and am going to dry hop mine too. 15 grams each of Cascade, Citra, Galaxy & Summer...

    Yeast question

What OG will the IPA be? I would just use the US05. Keep the Coopers yeast in the fridge for an emergency, or chuck it if you really want to get rid of it.

Black Rye IPA extract recipe - feedback please

Hey mate, I think 25% rye might be too much. I think 15 - 20% might be a more palatable amount. Killer Sprocket's Rye IPA uses 16% rye and I currently have an extract Rye Session IPA in the fermenter with 17% rye and the spice comes through really well. My recipe was: 3.0kg Briess Rye LME...
