    Help With Bottling A "amberlic"

Guys I'm hoping to draw from some of those a little more experienced than I in regard to when to bottle my AMBERLIC. I'm an all grain brewer and have been for many years. A couple of weeks ago a mate of mine and I put down a Lambic. Now that's not the problem, in fact we are looking forward...

    What Are You Brewing III

Mate of mine in the brew club and i are commencing a Lambic this weekend. We hope to be able to taste it sometime in July 2013 with some fruit added (cherries from my cherry tree) and again this time next year, just plain.......just in time for christmas 2013 (it had better be good). I have had...

    Australia's Best Small Brewery

No affiliation whatsoever, but for those of you who may be coming to Canberra anytime in the future I couldn't help post this about my favorite pub. Civic's Wig & Pen Brewery & Tavern has been named the best small brewery in the country at the annual Australian International Beer Awards. The...

Speidels Braumeister. Impressive Yes. Expensive Yes.

I also have ordered 50 litre from Ross. I discussed it with the minister (war and finance) and with discount it was too good to pass up. Even with the frieght from QLD to the ACT it was still cheaper. I banked on $230 freight and insurance....So I held my breath and ordered, paying the...

    Gluten Free Beer

I have two people in my house with Coeliacs disease. Lucky me.... I don't suffer that awful disease and I brew AG, mostly Pale Ales. About twice a year I brew GF beer successfully using my mash vessel. That being said I really gave it a hell of a good wash (4 or 5 times I think) a complete...

    Cleaning Bottles

I read this thread with interest as i have been bottling and kegging for many years and wanted to hear how others do it. I have only ever "officially" sterilised my bottles once and that was when I first got them. Ever since I just rinse with hot water after use and store in my brew cupboard...

Keeping Bottles Warm For That First Week?

One of the best way's I know to maintain your bottle temp (and I live in Canberra so it gets cold) is to line your newly capped bottles on top of an old water bed heater on a flat surface. They usually come with thermostats so put the probe into the centre of the bottles and throw a blanket or...

Adice Please. Spare Wort. No Chill In Milk Container

Thirsty, Only just opened them both up before I posted this message and thought better of "mixing the two" and hence seeking advise. Both are now in the fridge again. I'm waiting for the replies, but I think its a great idea to freeze the smaller one (and boil again later). As to the...

Adice Please. Spare Wort. No Chill In Milk Container

Afternoon all, A couple of weeks ago when I was doing a double brew day and on the second brew I overestimated slightly on the pre-boil amount. I put the hot wort into my cube (22 litres) and realised I had about 3 litres spare (there is a lession in here....don't drink too much on brew day)...

    Motor For Millmaster Input

Sully, I also recently purchased a grain mill and very quickly got sick of grinding the grains by hand....maybe I'm just lazy (LOL). So I purchased a GMC (cheap as possible) drill press, making sure that the pulley's from the drill press could be used on the the arm from the mill (hope that...

    Fresh Wort Kits In Canberra?

Cozmo, I "purchased" my gas bottle from Tony at PUBGAS in Hume about 2 years ago. Cost was about the quoted price. Refills are around $50 if you pay using the folding stuff. For you guys who want to buy fresh worts, do all grain. Its cheaper and you can make your brew to your own style. I...

Bottles Primed, Accidently Stored At 4 Degrees For 2 Days

Gidday Matt The beer will be fine. Just put the probe back in and let it warm it up. I know all about cold bottles I live in Canberra. They will be fine. The second fermentation (in the bottle) will be complete after a week or so, but don't drink them for at least a month if you can help...

Beer Consumption Too High? This May Work For You !

I also used to drink from a 500ml glass. However recently I got given some beautiful 330ml glasses for my birthday and opened them last month. The glasses are lovely to drink from and I still drink the same amount of "refills" 2-3 a night. So it must be true.........except for last night when...

    Whitelabs 570 Belgian Golden Ale

Dave, I mashed a bit higher at 65 although I don't have my notes with me it. As to fermentation I have had it sitting at 20 for the entire time. I'm wondering if I should warm it up a little (after all its very cold here in Canberra at the moment) it certainly can't hurt.

    Whitelabs 570 Belgian Golden Ale

Thanks for the feedback guys. I thinks its just a patience thing (ie I have none). I have given it a right good stir and will do so again tomorrow and wait a week. After that I will rack it and wait and see how I go. Thanks again
