You will lose a little bit but not alot, there is a small pin that needs to be depressed on the top of the bottle for the gas to come out. When you disconnect it this pin will lock and gas flow will stop. P.S next time you only need to post once. ;)

What about just drilling a hole through the bottom of the tun for a bolt to go though from the bottom. A nut on the inside to stop the bolt moving, then the bolt goes through the false bottom which is then held down by another nut/wing nut and washer. This is how I have my false bottom fitted...
