    White Rabbit Dark Ale Recipe

Do you have an updated recipe for this one? I have been meaning to make your older recipe from the other thread for ages and was just about to order the grain when I saw this post. Would love to have a crack at your latest recipe!

    These Flies

Seconding this. I had great luck with cider vinegar with a drop of washing detergent to break the surface tension.

RecipeDB - Better Red Than Dead

I dropped the 15min addition to be more 'to style'. Also most non-craft beer drinkers who drink my beers with late hop additions find them too hoppy. I didn't want to risk it with this one being made primarily as a bday present.

RecipeDB - Better Red Than Dead

My old man loves Kilkenny so I thought I'd make him a similar styled beer for his bday. I made a beer based off this recipe but with a few small changes: I changed the hops to a single addition and I used slightly different grains based on what my LHBS had available. Fermentables Golden...

    Does Biab Make Extract Redundant?

I went straight from kits to pure extract to BIAB. I found it a good progression. First get the sanitation and fermenting right. Then do a boil and add hops. Then add grains. Cost breakdown for BIAB: 19L Big W pot: $19 Voile for bag: $1.50 Cost $20.50. Of course this increases if you...

    Not A Fan Of Cider

Plus a lot of breweries are making cider these days. Little Creatures, Monteiths, Matilda Bay, Lion Nathan etc.

    Next Step

I always recommend new brewers go step by step. Maybe I'm a moron but if I went from 100% extract to AG it would have been overwhelming. 1) Kit and Kilo, maybe some dry hopping. 2) Unhopped extract with a boil and adding their own hops. 2a) Same as above but with steeping some specialty malts...

    Coopers Green. Really That Good?

Coopers actually tells the bars to roll the bottles around before serving. So if you don't want them to roll it around you definately have to ask before hand!

    Pear Cider Recipe Please?

My main experience is with apple+pear cider. I was finding that my 100% apple cider was fermenting a bit too dry for my tastes so started substituting apple+pear juice in as well. As pear juice contains unfermentable sugar it retains a little sweetness. My latest cider conditioning at the...

    Aussie Lager - Questions

My goal this summer is to make Aussie style beers. At the moment the "Aussie-ness" has been limited to using POR as the hop of choice but I'm loving it so far. My last beer was: JW Pils 80% Cooked Rice 20% 10 IBU POR FWH 17 IBU POR 45 min to go (hop schedule borrowed from Tony's Aussie Ale...

    Intermediate Stovetop Techniques

Another great thread Nick. :icon_cheers: I've been step mashing for a protein rest in my lagers but I did it through infusion with near boiling water added to the mash. I wasn't sure if it was ok to raise the temp up slowly as my stove really struggles to heat my mash, next time I'll try it...

    Becks Clone

Sorry to bump an old thread but I want to say that I made something very similar to Tony's recipe and it turned out amazing. The differences were that I used Joe White Pils for my malt and could only get White Labs WLP833 (German Bock Lager) for my yeast. It was my first lager and by far the...

Norpro / Shule Grain Mill (cheap Marga Mill?)

I have to apologise for the late update. I received the mill a while ago but have been too busy to brew and give it a go! Finally got to use it this weekend. First things first: this is the same as Marga Mill. I read through all the Marga mill threads and this looks exactly like the pictures...

    Not A Dark Beer Fan

Do this yum_beer!! For the longest time I never liked darker beers, even JS Amber Ale just like you but I loved White Rabbit dark ale. It was the straw that broke the camel's back and now I love them all.

Brewmate Software With Added Biab Support!

I just read this and all I can say is: awesome. I just did my first step mash the other day and had to install the Promash demo to get the infusion calculations. It's so ugly and unintuitive compared to Brewmate ! Great piece of software. :icon_cheers:
