Syd - Malt Master Class With Thomas Kraus-Weyermann

I got to speak to Thomas and Sabine for a lengthy period of time on Saturday while at Beervana in Wellington, NZ. The guy is down to earth and provided me a lot of food for thought with the additions of specialities etc. If you can get in there do it!

    Mac's Hop Rocker Pilsner Clone

Here is one of my earlier posts about a Mac's Hop Rocker clone... http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum//ind...mp;#entry633446 Not an exact clone, but still bloody good. If you can source Malturop Pils malt that is their base malt.

Kegs - Check My Theory Please!

I forgot to mention that before I start filling I drop the pressure down to minimum (40kpa), and purge the keg of extra pressure, that also seems to help reduce the froth. The CPBF is "bling" to me, as the racking cane and bung were $20 in total. If you plan to keep your beer long term, I would...

Kegs - Check My Theory Please!

I prefer to drink out of the bottle, so my only thought would be having the keg in the fridge while carbonating, then transfer to bottle and cap. This is what I do, as I am usually not at home when drinking my finest (BBQ's, nites out etc). I'm a little luckier, in that I have a dedicated chest...

    Epic Pale Ale Clone

Just to make sure, the cascade is US, not NZ and the yeast is 1272. I'm guessing the Impish Brewer just knows how to get what he wants out of both, it's a cracker off the tap!

    Kegging/gas Question

When you get your bottle filled, weigh it... that will tell you how much you are using.... Right now I would check all the lines / connections for leaks (with soapy water).

    Macs Hoprocker Pilsner Recipe

You could increase the sauvin additions early on to get a higher bitterness, especially if you plan to drink it cold (4C). I took my inspiration from their website (and on the side of the 6 packs) from here http://www.macs.co.nz/beers/beer/hoprocker_pilsener/ My recipe is not as bitter...

    Macs Hoprocker Pilsner Recipe

Hey Gregor I have been making a HR clone for a while now as follows: 5kg Pilsner Malt (2.8 SRM) 300gm Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L (20.0 SRM) 100gm Acidulated (Weyermann) (1.8 SRM) (I only use this as my base malt needs acid treatment) 15.00 gm Nelson Sauvin [12.50 %] (60 min) Hops 20.2 IBU...

    Volume Brewed 2009

+2 Last year I made 32 batches @ 23 litres = 736. Most of it my brother in law drank, I should never have taught him how to fill his own bottles from my kegs....
