Improve an old Keggle or go new?

Good feedback, thanks guys. Sounds like the keggle should be OK. If anyone has tips on how best to place elements, thermowells etc I'd appreciate it. As for fermentation, while I've only got the Coopers fermenters, they do sit in a temp controlled fridge. Any suggestions on improvement...

Improve an old Keggle or go new?

Hey all, I have an old keggle that I used to BIAB 23L batches on, with an over the side element (now lost) and I'd really appreciate some advice about whether to improve or go new. I'm not entirely sure of it's total volume, but I'd put it at about 60L - 70L; it's a weird shape though: In...

Dry Hopping, Grassiness And Cold Conditioning

I would love to know what that secret is. I've had problems with grassiness and galaxy and just don't know what to do about it. I dont know if it was because I left it too long or if that's just how Galaxy rolls. Maybe less at dry hop and more at flame out?

    Stone And Wood Extract Clone

I've done an extract one in the past that was tasty but turned out nothing like Stone & Wood. AG-wise it would normally go 60% ale 40% wheat so maybe: 60% LDME 40% Wheat extract galaxy 5g @ 30min galaxy 50g cube hopped or flameout Dry hop with what you have left at 3 days. Someone else...

    Hop Cigars

Yeah I'd be interested in seeing what shipping is like; wouldn't mind one or two myself.

    Wort Cooling Idea

Yeah I've been thinking the exact same thing for a while now. I knew I'd seen it before somewhere but couldn't remember where! Thanks :icon_chickcheers: My only other thought was to get a second bin so that you could somehow recycle the water rather than letting it run out. I think I'll try...

    Murray's

Wow, a good day for you indeed! Oh yeah I saw you at the bar; was having dinner at that stage myself. I definitely think that bar is going to be my new local.

    Murray's

Went and had dinner and drinks there last night. Bloody fantastic beers as you'd expect and dinner was pretty good too; 3 course with accompanying beers. Service was a bit so so but it was there opening day so I'm not holding grudges :) The only major beers of theirs I'd never tried were the...

Coopers Best Extra Stout.a Pale Shadow Of It's Former Self?

I recently had it on tap in Manly (Sydney) and it was beautiful!! Totally different beer to what you get at the bottle shop; rich and hugely flavoursome rather than a bit thin and watery. So maybe just bottle stock? Do they have it on tap many places? Seems a strange way to do business though.

    Young Beer

Yeah I've been wondering about this myself. I keep homebrew bottles a month after bottling before opening. I assumed they do hold on to the beer for a while.

    Summer Ale Advice

Does sound pretty good, I imagine grapefruit and passion fruit could go well together. Maybe bitter with galaxy but do some 30min and after additions of Chinook as well as galaxy ?

    Stone & Wood Draught Ale

Nice!! Thanks guys and thanks argon. Going to give this a try.

    Stone & Wood Draught Ale

I would looove to get anyone's findings on this too. My first thought would be to use the basic hop timings of the AG recipes, to about 20odd IBUs but I'm a bit stuck on what sort of steeping grains to use. Haysie, excuse my utter noobness, but are you saying .5gm to the batch size or boil...
