Silicon Hose Versus Copper For Herms Heat Transfer

I suppose you could give it a go, but there's a reason copper is where it's at.

    Amarillo Poll

I really liked it when I first started brewing, still do, but I'm more interested in other hops now. Got a bit excited with it for a while, so have decided to try a different hop with each brew.

Can you give specifics on the replacements? How much dextrose was replaced with how much malt?

    Manin' Up

No distillation involved. It's just partially freezing the beer and then draining off the liquid. Since alcohol freezes at a lower temp than the water, the water freezes first and you end up with beer concentrate. There's a video of the process here...

    Yeast Storage

I found this article linked, here possibly, a little while ago. It's pretty old, but it was the first time I'd seen it. http://hbd.org/brewery/library/SterileDW1096.html Seemed pretty good. Just waiting for my test tubes to arrive.

    Salami 101

Great thread everyone. Certainly keen to give it a go myself. Thought I might pass on this blog I've been reading on the subject. Cured Meats. The art and the craft. Tons of great articles and recipes. Apologies if someone already mentioned it earlier, I didn't notice it while reading through.

    Growing Your Own Grain

Great, thanks guys for the info. I think I'll give it a go, for the experience. I also really like the idea of making a beer with ingredients I've grown and prepared myself. With the exception of yeast I suppose. cheers, Luke
