Normell and others, I'd be keen on a single one of those kegs. I'm in Pascoe Vale too so I could pick them up if that's handy. Also, if (and that's a big if) I get some darned invoices paid I could stump up the whole cash amount for these and people could come and collect from me if it's easier.

not the cheapest sorry, but I'm not too skilled at this. I used a 555 as a monostable to do a similar thing with my heater thermo. Set it up so that it stayed on for a minute or two.

I've noticed with the XR10C that the connection 6 is blank. I used a terminal block too to junction earth, but I wonder if 6 could be used for this purpose?

Peter - doing a controller for a gas burner is a fair amount more complex as you need flameout protection and other stuff.. it's much easier to control an electrically heated device. As Dreamboat said, do you really need a controller for your kettle? Turn it on at the start, and turn it off...

I'll go an XR30C in addition to an XR10C please. I'm still hoping the 30 will drive the fridge on the cooling output and drive a small heater on the alarm output.

I was thinking of a 2 stage controller as one that can control both a heating and cooling element.

Hoops, sorry to go off topic, but is it possible to get two stage controllers from this guy? I'd like to get rid of my current PC based setup and control my fermenting fridge with something more trustworthy.

I bought a Beer Machine from the US second hand because I want a small keg to fit into our fridge. So I actually brew using the typical 30l fermenter, then transfer to the Beer Machine to use a a dispenser. However the stupid thing doesn't seal all that well - it's basically a plastic 'keg' cut...

Isn't it something to do with those lager yeasts, that they produce a sulphurous (rotten egg) smell?

CCDXP32 works really well for, um, my friend. You do have to lock the channel in each time you use it, but it will stay locked for hours once done.

Good on you Jason - I'd like to hear your comments on the orange peel. I'm just about to brew a Hoegaarden clone tomorrow using orange and mandarin peel. I tried my best to find curacao oranges in Melbourne but no luck...
