exterior work with an insurance adjustor

I used to work in insurance (broker) and here are my thoughts. 1 shingles. The insurer is only required to pay for the damage and the fact that the other half will need to be replaced in 10 years is nothing to do with them. Perhaps the owner should consider chipping in and replacing all the...

    Ginger beer from scratch

Update on my ginger beer quest after 3 weeks in the bottle. I made 2 batches as follows. The only difference between each batch was that for sweetness I used 300 gms of Erythritol in one batch and 500 gms of lactose in the other. 1 can of Brigalow Ginger Beer kit, 1 Kg raw sugar, 1 bottle of...

    PET Bottles

My problem has been solved. "take the tamper ring off the caps". In some instances, the tamper-evident collar was causing the cap to "cross-thread" and preventing the cap from sealing. After removing the tamper-evident collar it works as it is supposed to.

    PET Bottles

    PET Bottles

I recently purchased 2 boxes of Coopers 750ml PET bottles and I am experiencing problems with some of them not sealing properly and the beer not carbonating. I have purchased additional caps and that was the problem in some instances and in others, the bottles are defective. Although they are...

    Ginger beer from scratch

That Haurakihomebrew site has very good product information, in fact it is muc I have checked on the sanitiser and the active ingredient is Sodium Percarbonate, so that shouldn't be a problem. In regard to flavour, I like it except for the metallic after-taste. But if there is a next time I...

    Ginger beer from scratch

I have been lurking on this thread for a few weeks and tried to brew my first batch of GB. Unfortunately, it did not turn out well because it was very dry and had a strong metallic after-taste. I followed the recipe from here Home Brew Alcoholic Ginger Beer - 4WD ADVENTURER. I had to improvise...

    A "Newbie" after a 50 year break

I have started home brewing again and I have a few questions. I am mainly brewing ales using FWIKs at the moment. I am in SE Queensland and due to the hot weather I have re-purposed an ancient Rubbermaid 80 litre cooler I had (on its end) to regulate the temperature during fermentation. I beefed...
