Does everyone still use the sediment reducer (I think thats what its called) that comes standard with the coopers kits. Mine is starting to look a bit average as it is very hard to keep clean. Are these really needed? Will you risk sucking up parts of the yeast cake when using the tap only?

Looks like I will give this a try then. I will wire the pump up to an external switch and turn it on just before I pour my first beer, then hopefully at the end of the night I will remember to turn it back off. This will mean the pump is only running when I want a beer, not all day while I am at...
