    back to back batches

The wife and I recently changed our tactics, we used to both brew on the same day and then we'd be bottling two weeks later and brewing again, but way too much work on the bottling, cleaning, brewing weekend. Plus long lag time between batches. Having to bottle 2 x 23 Litre batches of beer and a...

    Dayboro Show

No I don't have the results. That was just from talking to Scott on the day, haven't heard anything since.

    Dayboro Show

Haha I'm just jealous. No-one entered a pilsener at all in the samford show, I was like damn, I could have scored 1 pt and taken it out. You succeeded at my plan :D

    Samford Valley Show

Not sure if they've been posted anywhere at all yet. We stopped in on Saturday to check out where we placed and found out I got 1st place in the Bitter category and Best beer in show for my Star Fox - Galaxy Red. I was so flabbergasted at that I didn't think to check anything else out sorry.

Star Fox Brew - Red Ale with Galaxy Hops

So for anyone wondering about the tasting notes and things the recipe I used was slightly modified from the above with the steeped grains and such. But it's now four weeks in the bottle and tasting brilliant. So good it got 1st place in the bitter category and also took out Best in show for...

    Humor me, just an observation

If you're just filling directly from the tap, I recommend getting a bottle filler from your LHBS. It'll be 3 or 4 dollars and you won't regret it. Easy flow, not tap turning on and off all the time and it's easy to stop in a hurry if you need to...

    375ml Glass Bottles

Having recently gone through a bunch of different bottle styles. I recommend Tiger Beer as the easiest to remove a label from. Soak it for a bit and it pretty much just slides right off, it was brilliant.

Small batches to speed up learning?

We have done four 5L batches and I'm not a massive fan. The stuff that comes out good gets drunk so fast, yet it takes the same time to brew. I am going to use them for secondary flavour experiments and things however. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I drink too much for it :D

Star Fox Brew - Red Ale with Galaxy Hops

Yeah, personally I'd got 40-60 IBU, but I've got a couple of friends that aren't as big a fan of the high bitterness so I thought I'd go for a more well rounded one. Then crank it up later on different brews.

Star Fox Brew - Red Ale with Galaxy Hops

So the wife and I are brewing under the house name of Nimbus Brewery - Cloudy with a chance of ale. And I've always liked Star Fox - the main character of which is called Fox McCloud. We recently did a brew of some red ale that was amazing, so I wanted to combine all these things. The goal is...

    Kmart clearing Coopers stock

Yeah I grabbed the last two boxes of bottles from chermside Kmart - $10 for 15 bottles is a good deal. Aspley kmart had nothing at all. Saturday the chermside had quite a few cans there in pretty much every style. But I'm not sure about today - depends on who's been travelling ;p

    First Crack!

haha - welcome to the new brew club. If you're anything like the missus and I you'll be hip dip in fermenters before the week is out. I thoroughly recommend getting your significant other to get involved with mead/cider/beer (whatever they like ;p). It's much more fun with them encouraging and...

New brewer - how much can I get wrong?

I ended up with 1.016 as it was steady there for a number of days (first brew so lots of sg readings due to excitement! ;p). I used a priming calculator and went with slightly less sugar, also used plastic bottles. So far they've been bottled for almost two weeks and no issues so far. I've...
