    Fermenting down to business.

Cheers all. Sounds like in general most just do a couple weeks ferment which gets everything cleaned up from the yeast point of view. Cold crash to drop the crap out if you want clearer beer. Does this effect the amount of yeast available to carbonate bottles? And Barge I'm all into...

    New from Melbourne

Welcome to brewing for starters. I brewed for a real long time just doing the old school can and sugar and never tipped a single one. You still need the fermentation gear to do this so I'd suggest buy the bare minimum to do a couple of cans of goop and expand. It'll teach you the basics of...

    Fermenting down to business.

Ok so traditionally I've done can goop beer. Fermented out until the airlock stopped and checked FG. Bottled the said goop and done. I want to know people's opinions on the do's and dont's of fermenting. For the purpose of this question I'll talk Ales. Diacetyl rest ? Is it worth doing and how...

    Herms system.

So I'm part way through mashing as we speak. And I'm reading your tuning information. I'm an industrial electrician myself and deal with heating every other day. And I got to thinking how .3 +/- isn't that great. So start messing with PID settings. Only to find that it's still set to on/off (...

Anyone who intends to catch a train in from north side. Check your times. Northgate to Gympie rail is closed all weekend. Buses are running but will add a bit more time on travel.

    Herms system.

I went ahead and temporarily plumbed the hex with the hlt for my own experimental benefits. I've ended up leaving it as planned. Meaning it worked as good as I could have hoped. It holds the temperature within +/- .3c. I'm happy with that result so never bothered altering the length or the hlt...

    Coopers Canadian Blonde

I've used Canadian blonde a few times. 700 odd g of ldme. Dry hopped them with Galaxy and cascade. Used us05 yeast or the supplied yeast. Always tasted pretty damn good to me.

    dry hopping ?

I did an ipa and dry hopped with 25g of cascade last brew I did. That was in a 23 litre brew. It was a nice taste for my liking. Next brew I might push it a bit further and give it 35g and see the difference. I got a hop bag from my local brew shop. Just added the hops in the bag tied it off...

Dedicated Herms Guide, Problems And Solution Thread

Seems that the best place to monitor temperature is at the return to the mash tun. I am interested to know if the wort gets slightly hotter before if reaches the return is it going to effect the wort. From a scientific perspective when talking about a certain mash temperature is the temperature...

Why are my brews so dark and stormy?

Dont join the military just yet. Just pointing out how threads get off track easily due to misinformation assumption and unnecessary posts. Cheers.

Why are my brews so dark and stormy?

I believe I asked if his cans were out of date. Regardless Ross is completely correct in saying read the original question. I'm relatively new to this forum and have noticed how quickly threads get railroaded with technical and sometimes irrelevant banter. Some of the beer gods have to...
